\nSounds like \u201ctrue love\u201d wasn\u2019t exactly true life for former\u00a0Bachelorette<\/em> couple\u00a0Shawn Booth<\/strong> and\u00a0Kaitlyn Bristowe<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

On a Thursday afternoon podcast interview about his love life and past relationship with the high-profile\u00a0Bachelorette<\/em> alum, Shawn got very real about what it was like to be on the hit\u00a0ABC<\/strong> dating show.<\/p>\n

And considering Shawn has recently been in the news<\/a> regarding some of his feuds that season, anyways, the timing couldn\u2019t have been more perfect!<\/p>\n

Chatting with the hosts of the health-and-fitness podcast\u00a0Austin AF<\/em>, the 34-year-old former reality TV competition show champion admitted that he and Kaitlyn \u201cgot put through the ringer\u201d during and after their run on the show.<\/p>\n

Shawn said:<\/p>\n

\u201cAny little thing to mess with me, mess with her, [the show] did. So I think that definitely grew our relationship, because they were trying to pull us apart the entire time. Because they needed a show. It\u2019s a business.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In fact, Shawn was pointedly critical of the engagement itself, claiming it didn\u2019t \u201cfeel real\u201d when he popped the question to Kaitlyn in the show\u2019s final episode;<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that point, it was like, I am so, so worn down mentally, emotionally, physically. I knew we were gonna end up together for, like, a long time on that show. I never, never really had a doubt, like, ever. I was always like, \u2018Yep, she\u2019s gonna pick me.\u2019\u00a0And then that last night was just like, \u2018Let\u2019s just get this over with and get out of here.\u2019 I was asking [producers], like, \u2018What if I don\u2019t propose, like, I mean, this is kind of a big deal.\u2019 And they\u2019re basically like, \u2018If you don\u2019t propose, then everyone is gonna hate you.’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Wow!<\/p>\n

We know The Bachelorette<\/em>\u00a0is far more than what viewers see on TV, of course, but that\u2019s quite the assertion!<\/p>\n

Shawn continued on from there, admitting that while he and Kaitlyn were very good on camera together, they maybe didn\u2019t have quite as strong of a connection built-in behind the scenes:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were very good at having fun and showing the world that we had fun.\u00a0Being in love, and doing the whole love thing, we weren\u2019t that good at behind closed doors, and I think there was some sense of, like, a trauma bond. I\u2019ll always be connected to her in that way. We\u2019ll always have that bond, like, we went through something that I mean, a handful of people in the world have gone through.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

No kidding!<\/p>\n

The chat got interesting from there, too, with Shawn revealing how he and Kaitlyn were forced to hide out for more than 14 weeks while waiting for the show to air to the world.<\/p>\n

He recalled what that lifestyle was like, explaining that they even used Disney<\/strong> codenames to move around undetected after they won the show but had to wait for everything to be revealed on TV:<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d have to fly under an alias. Somebody would come and pick me up at my house and be like, \u2018Eric?\u2019 I\u2019d be like, \u2018Yeah. I\u2019m Eric.\u2019 Because she was Ariel. Like on\u00a0The Little Mermaid<\/em>. And so then, we would travel<\/a> under those names and then she would go to this house in one car. I would get taken to that house a few hours later, and the house would be like, in the middle of L.A., somewhere where it\u2019s completely secluded \u2014 trees, fence, like, you\u2019re not allowed to leave the property. Every counter has just booze and food and they\u2019re like, \u2018Alright, don\u2019t leave. Have fun.\u2019\u00a0It\u2019s just like, alright, so let\u2019s just get drunk, eat and do other things that newly in-love couples do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Damn!<\/p>\n

We knew a little bit about that part of the Bachelor Nation<\/em> lifestyle, of course, but that\u2019s wild!<\/p>\n

Ultimately, though, Shawn revealed that because of his own experience on the show, he was entirely skeptical of every future\u00a0Bachelor Nation<\/em> couple. Brand deals and social media<\/a> promotion don\u2019t help either, he said:<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I don\u2019t trust anything. It\u2019s a whole different ball game<\/a> with that. You do have brand deals. And that\u2019s why I look at relationships now from The Bachelor<\/em> [and] I\u2019m like, \u2018Are they actually happ<\/a>y?’\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We wonder the same thing, man. We wonder the same thing\u2026<\/p>\n
