“#How to Use Google Chrome\u2019s Hidden Reader Mode”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most web browsers have a built-in \u201cReader Mode\u201d that converts web pages into a more reader-friendly view. Strangely, Google Chrome does not have this feature\u2014unless you know how to find it. We\u2019ll show you where it is.<\/p>\n

Google Chrome has included a hidden Reader Mode since all the way back to version 75. However, it\u2019s never been upgraded to a stable, standard feature. Even Microsoft Edge\u2014which is also based on Chromium\u2014has a Reader Mode. So let\u2019s enable it in Chrome.<\/p>\n

First, we\u2019ll need to enable a Chrome feature flag.\u00a0Open the\u00a0Chrome<\/a>\u00a0browser on your computer, type\u00a0chrome:\/\/flags<\/code>\u00a0in the address bar, and hit Enter.<\/p>\n

Search for \u201cReader Mode\u201d in the text box at the top and enable the flag titled \u201cEnable Reader Mode.\u201d<\/p>\n

After enabling the flag, click the \u201cRelaunch\u201d button at the bottom of the screen to app<\/a>ly the changes.<\/p>\n

Now, when you visit a webpage that has a lot of text, you\u2019ll see a little book icon on the right side of the address bar. Click it to switch to Reader Mode.<\/p>\n

You can also click menu > Enter Reader Mode to activate it.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re now looking at a much simpler, less cluttered view of the webpage. Images still appear, but ads and some other items are removed. To adjust the view, click the \u201cA\u201d icon in the top right.<\/p>\n

From here you can change the font, text size, and background color.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all there is to it! You can now minimize distractions while reading long articles in Chrome. It\u2019s strange that Google has kept this a hidden feature for years, but at least you know how to enable it yourself.<\/p>\n
