\n David Peterson can circle Sunday on his calendar.<\/p>\n

The rookie left-hander will remain in the Mets rotation, manager Luis Rojas confirmed Wednesday, a day after Peterson earned the victory in his MLB debut with a solid outing against the Red Sox.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe talked about [Marcus] Stroman as week-to-week, but Peterson is our fifth starter right now,\u201d Rojas said before the Mets lost to the Red Sox, 6-5, at Citi Field.<\/p>\n

Stroman, who is on the injured list with a torn left calf, has been throwing \u201cfull tilt\u201d bullpen sessions, according to Rojas, but there is still the question of when he will be healthy enough to show he can field his position.<\/p>\n

Peterson allowed two earned runs on seven hits and two walks over 5\u00b2\/\u2083 innings against the Red Sox. His next start would also come on the road, in Atlanta.<\/p>\n

Pitching coach Jeremy Hefner was asked what he took from Peterson\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t have much to do with Petey \u2014 that was a big win for the organization, for our player development system,\u201d Hefner said. \u201cPetey was unfazed and stayed on the aggressive the entire night. I was glad I was able to witness that.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Mets placed Jake Marisnick on the injured list with a strained left hamstring. Ryan Cordell was selected from the Mets\u2019 alternate training site and added to the 30-man roster. Jordan Humphreys was designated for assignment to clear space on the 40-man roster.<\/p>\n

Robert Gsellman (strained triceps) is expected to begin facing hitters during live batting practice in the next day or two, according to Rojas. Two other sidelined relievers, Brad Brach and Jared Hughes, have been throwing. Hughes has faced hitters and Brach is throwing bullpen sessions. <\/p>\n

Rojas was asked his opinion on a possible rule change that would shorten the number of innings in a doubleheader.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only reason I would like that change is because of the health part and maybe preventing the guys from being exposed out there for so long,\u201d Rojas said. \u201cIf we have already the theme<\/a> that we want a healthy season, and the extra-inning rule, playing with the 30-man roster to start, it\u2019s all for healthy reasons. If they want to shorten two game<\/a>s or one game, that is because of that.<\/p>\n

\u201c[But] it\u2019s nothing that I think would change, \u2018Now we\u2019re going to be more aggressive in the third inning because it\u2019s a seven-inning game\u201d or something like that. Your starter has a pitch count and you trust the depth your starter is going to give you and then you have guys that can come in and do different things to close a game.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
