\n Mayor Bill de Blasio warned that parts of southern Brooklyn are on the brink of massive power outages Thursday \u2014 as he directed residents to conserve energy \u201cas much as possible\u201d amid the fourth day of a sweltering heat wave.<\/p>\n

Con Edison issued the warning Thursday morning that the electrical supply in Bay Ridge, Fort Hamilton, South Park Slope, Greenwood and Sunset Park is currently in danger.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a problem in southern Brooklyn,\u201d Hizzoner said at his daily press briefing. \u201cWe\u2019ve got to protect our electricity supply for all New Yorkers.\u201d<\/p>\n

De Blasio advised \u201cavoiding using major app<\/a>liances,\u201d including washers, dryers and microwaves and limiting the use of air conditioners \u201cas much as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone please take this warning seriously. Please act on it,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will push Con Ed hard to resolve this situation quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The power issues come as temperatures will hit a sweltering 90 degrees again Thursday.<\/p>\n
