{"id":373244,"date":"2021-11-27T02:40:44","date_gmt":"2021-11-26T23:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/150000-year-old-beads-are-worlds-oldest-form-of-jewelry\/"},"modified":"2021-11-27T02:40:44","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T23:40:44","slug":"150000-year-old-beads-are-worlds-oldest-form-of-jewelry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/150000-year-old-beads-are-worlds-oldest-form-of-jewelry\/","title":{"rendered":"#150,000-year-old beads are world&#8217;s oldest form of jewelry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#150,000-year-old beads are world&#8217;s oldest form of jewelry<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Even the earliest Homo sapiens adored their precious gemstones.<\/p>\n<p>Archaeologists digging in the Bizmoune Cave in southwest Morocco found the oldest set of jewelry known to man.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/journal\/sciadv\">Science\u00a0Advances<\/a> reported that excavators discovered 33 shell beads dated between 142,000 and 150,000 years old.<\/p>\n<p>While the beads themselves were sourced between 2014 and 2018, a team of archaeologists has been hard at work to secure an accurate date that the shells had been worked into baubles through extensive scientific analysis.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate student from the National Institute of Archaeological <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science<\/a>s and Heritage in Rabat, El Mehdi Sehasseh, is at the helm of the study. Kuhn, a professor of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/anthropology.arizona.edu\/\">anthropology<\/a> at the University of Arizona\u00a0College of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social<\/a> and Behavioral Sciences, was in charge of the team of paleontologists and concurred that the jewelry found was not just for embellishment, but had meaning, as well.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were probably part of the way people expressed their identity with their clothing,\u201d Kuhn <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eurekalert.org\/news-releases\/929149\">said in a press release<\/a>. \u201cThey\u2019re the tip of the iceberg for that kind of human trait. They show that it was present even hundreds of thousands of years ago, and that humans were interested in communicating to bigger groups of people than their immediate friends and family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The beads were made from sea snail shells, and measure about half-an-inch long.
