\n Three in five Americans are boosting their moods with indoor dance parties and karaoke sessions after so much time at home, according to a new poll.<\/p>\n

Two in five have even embraced viral trends and learned a new dance, while 38 percent have thrown a party with friends via video chat.<\/p>\n

The study of 2,000 Americans examined the important role music has played in light of current events.<\/p>\n

When asked what songs respondents want on their social<\/a>ly distanced dance party playlist, current hits like \u201cRain on Me\u201d from Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, \u201cDon\u2019t Start Now\u201d by Dua Lipa, \u201cSay So\u201d from Doja Cat and \u201cHot Girl Summer\u201d by Megan Thee Stallion were mixed in with classics like \u201cSeptember\u201d from Earth Wind and Fire and \u201cHey Ya!\u201d by Outkast.<\/p>\n

And when asked about the best dance songs of all time, Whitney Houston\u2019s \u201cI Wanna Dance with Somebody\u201d came out on top of a predetermined list of dance favorites.<\/p>\n

\u201cBillie Jean\u201d by Michael Jackson and \u201cStayin\u2019 Alive\u201d from The Bee Gees also made it into the top three.<\/p>\n

Four in five (79 percent) cited music as a way to help them stay connected with others while social distancing.<\/p>\n

The survey, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Ultimate Ears, found when it came to the genres that lifted respondents\u2019 spirits the most, hip-hop came out on top with 50 percent.<\/p>\n

Rock (47 percent), pop (45 percent), country (42 percent) and dance\/electronic music (31 percent) rounded out the top five mood-boosting genres.<\/p>\n

When it comes to their actual taste in music, many think of themselves as tastemakers.<\/p>\n

Three in five Americans think \u201cgood taste\u201d in music is a talent they\u2019re born with.<\/p>\n

Music preferences can even have an impact on the dating game<\/a>, as two-thirds said bad taste in music is a romantic buzzkill.<\/p>\n

One in two have been embarrassed by their own music taste, with some respondents even hiding their guilty pleasure preferences from a date.<\/p>\n

Three in 10 confessed to lying to a partner about their love for a song or artist.<\/p>\n

When classifying their own music taste, half of the respondents like \u201ceverything\u201d while 15 percent classify their tastes as \u201ceclectic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of those who create their own playlists, seven in 10 have separate playlists for private listening versus parties.<\/p>\n

One in two of those admitted they would feel embarrassed if a song from their personal collection found its way onto a party mix by mistake.<\/p>\n

A third of respondents have had that exact cringe-worthy scenario happen to them. One hilariously recalled a time in which the Batman theme<\/a> song, leftover from a child\u2019s party, played during a get-together of adults.<\/p>\n

Music definitely plays a vital role in the success of a party since four in five think it can \u201cmake or break\u201d the event.<\/p>\n

Music came only second to drinks on a list of elements for a successful get together with food rounding out the top three.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that a gathering isn\u2019t a party until people are up and dancing,\u201d said Mindy Fournier, Head of Product and Portfolio, Ultimate Ears. \u201cThat\u2019s why the data is no surprise to us and we designed our latest speaker HYPERBOOM to bring massive sound and extreme bass to any party, loud enough to get whole rooms of people on their feet dancing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Respondents don\u2019t want quiet background tunes either. Eighty percent said good volume and bass are essential to a great party.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re hosting a party and looking to get guests on their feet and dancing, a killer playlist is a party must-have. Seventy-eight percent of respondents said there are certain songs guaranteed to make them move.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat makes for an amazing party isn\u2019t just one playlist,\u201d Fournier added. \u201cWith HYPERBOOM, we made it easier for friends to share their music from different devices, without that awkward pause when you\u2019re switching music.\u201d<\/p>\n
