In national politics, corporate chieftains dance to the tune of progressive elites, fearing backlash from the media and their <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> hordes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Dimon himself took a knee in support of Black Lives Matter during last year\u2019s summer of love to score some lefty kudos despite the movement\u2019s Marxist underpinnings. If BLM had its way, JPM would be shuttered and Dimon summoned for a Soviet-style show trial after being charged for crimes against humanity (a k a being a capitalist).<\/p>\n<p>Maybe even worse, these CEOs spend a lot of time overseas dancing to the tune of dictators in \u00adplaces like Saudi Arabia and Russia. Mostly, however, it\u2019s in China as they look to tap into the country\u2019s state-run market economy, which promises enormous profits given the country\u2019s massive population and rising standard of \u00adliving.<\/p>\n<p>And that means Jamie Dimon has to eat crow when he says the truth even about a country that represses religious minorities, murders dissidents and has been credibly accused of unleashing COVID on the world and trying to cover it up.<\/p>\n<p>To understand the absurdity of Dimon\u2019s apologia to the communist Chinese, let\u2019s go back to exactly what Dimon said last week that prompted not just one bended-knee about-face, but two.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/Xi-Jinping-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Chinese President Xi Jinping\" class=\"wp-image-20291394\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/Xi-Jinping-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/Xi-Jinping-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/Xi-Jinping-4.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie \u00adDimon realized he has to stay on Chinese President Xi Jinping\u2019s good side to maintain business relations.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">AP Photo\/Mark Schiefelbein, File<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI was just in Hong Kong and I made a joke that the Com\u00admu\u00adnist Party is cel\u00ade\u00adbrat\u00ading its hun\u00addredth year. So is JP\u00adMor\u00adgan. I\u2019d make you a bet we last longer,\u201d he quipped, adding: \u201cI can\u2019t say that in China. They prob\u00ada\u00adbly are lis\u00adten\u00ading any\u00adway.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Vintage Dimon. Left to his own devices, he\u2019s brutally and refreshingly honest. Who can forget that when most of the liberal corporate elite kept their distance from President Trump, Dimon vowed to work with him. Later, Dimon didn\u2019t think twice about offending the leader of the free world when Jamie claimed he could easily beat Don in an election because Dimon\u2019s \u201csmarter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gotta love it, and also got to love what Dimon said about China and his dig at its massive and abusive surveillance state. At last week\u2019s Boston College event, Dimon said he \u201cdetest(s)\u201d Trump\u2019s legendary callous personality. Then he rightly gave kudos to Trump for his anti-China policies \u201cbe\u00adcause it was time to do some\u00adthing about\u201d the country\u2019s abusive trade practices and outright theft of American intellectual property as the price of doing business there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Within a few hours came the apologies (\u201cI regret I should not have made that comment .\u2009.\u2009. it\u2019s never right to joke about or denigrate any group of people, whether it\u2019s a country, its leadership, or any part of a society and culture\u201d) after word of the event started making its way around media circles, and someone inside JPM reminded the boss that the bank does a lot business in China. For all the bad stuff that goes down on the mainland, JPM is looking to do more with the \u00adtyrants, not less. That\u2019s why he just <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ed to Hong Kong in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>So before the Chinese could cancel JPM\u2019s asset-management <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lication and jail some of its employees who work there, the mea culpa maximas hit the tape. The Chinese later insisted all the bad things (the truth) that Dimon said about them were much ado about nothing and they\u2019re still looking forward to working with the bank.<\/p>\n<p>I asked a senior JPM executive why Dimon decided to apologize. After all, Jamie was just being \u00adJamie. The exec\u2019s response: \u201cHa!<\/p>\n<p>He doesn\u2019t feel it\u2019s right to joke about an entire country and its leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But in reality, what he said wasn\u2019t a joke.
