class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Some 62.8 million shoppers are expected to take advantage of deals on Cyber Monday to cap off a holiday weekend that failed to see brick-and-mortar traffic reach pre-pandemic levels, according to projections.<\/p>\n<p>The National Retail Federation expected a total of 158.3 million people to hit stores this year, up slightly from last year\u2019s pandemic-dented shopping weekend but still <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/27\/black-friday-shopping-in-stores-drops-28percent-from-pre-pandemic-levels.html\">short of the 165.3 million shoppers seen in 2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re expecting another record-breaking holiday season this year and Thanksgiving weekend will play a major role as it always has,\u201d\u00a0NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>However, the importance of the Black Friday weekend for retailers has become increasingly muted in recent years, as companies roll out deals earlier in said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlack Friday stopped being a one-day event years ago, and this year some consumers started shopping for Christmas as early as Halloween.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amid the shift toward online spending, foot traffic at brick-and-mortar stores on Black Friday fell 28.3 percent from pre-pandemic levels, CNBC reported, citing <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/27\/black-friday-shopping-in-stores-drops-28percent-from-pre-pandemic-levels.html\">preliminary data from Sensormatic Solutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure online Black Friday sales fell to $8.9 billion,\u00a0down from the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/11\/28\/black-friday-2020-online-shopping-surges-22percent-to-record-9-billion-adobe-says.html\">record $9 billion<\/a> spent online on the same day a year ago, CNBC added, citing data from Adobe Analytics.<\/p>\n<p>It was the first time ever that online sales for the day fell compared with a year earlier, Adobe said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image they\u00a0shop to make\u00a0sure they get the best deals,\u201d said Vivek Pandya, a lead analyst at Adobe Digital Insights, according to CNBC.<\/p>\n<p>Adobe expects e-commerce sales on Cyber Monday to be between $10.2 billion and $11.3 billion, CNBC reported, though out-of-stock messages on companies\u2019 websites were up 124 percent through Friday compared with pre-pandemic levels, which could
