Black Widow<\/em><\/strong>\u2018s journey to the big screen has been a bumpy one, with the long-awaited Marvel Studios film enduring pandemic delays. But there\u2019s one thing that might make the long wait for Marvel\u2019s\u00a0Black Widow<\/em> worth it: lots of IMAX footage.<\/p>\n

IMAX recently held an earnings call (via Heroic Hollywood) where the company revealed that roughly 30 minutes of the Scarlett Johansson-starring\u00a0Black Widow<\/em> will be shown in IMAX\u2019s expanded\u00a01.90:1 aspect ratio. While the call didn\u2019t divulge which scenes would be shown in IMAX, we can likely assume that they will be\u00a0Black Widow<\/em>\u2018s action sequences.<\/p>\n

From what we\u2019ve seen of the action sequences, the\u00a0Bourne<\/em>-style choreography and thrilling filming style will lend nicely to IMAX, as will the mysterious villain Taskmaster, who has the ability to replicate anyone\u2019s fighting skills. The trailers teased Taskmaster using familiar moves from several Avengers, which will make any fight scene with Natasha Romanoff (Johansson) entertaining to watch. As for Taskmaster\u2019s identity, that\u2019s still something we can only theorize about.<\/p>\n

While the presence of IMAX footage,\u00a0which gives audiences roughly 26% more footage in the picture than a regular theater screen, frequently lends an extra layer of big-budget prestige to a film, it\u2019s always a little jarring to see the screen dimensions expand for some sequences, before shrinking back for the rest of the film. But it\u2019s become common practice for superhero movies<\/a> to go all-out with big battle sequences shot in IMAX, and\u00a0Black Widow<\/em> seems like it will be following that practice.<\/p>\n

Directed by Cate Shortland<\/strong> and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel\u2019s Black Widow<\/em> now hits theaters on\u00a0November 6, 2020<\/strong>\u00a0after being\u00a0delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.\u00a0The entire Marvel Studios release schedule has been shifted due to the new release date, and you can get the full new release calendar\u00a0right here.\u00a0Jac Schaeffer<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Ned Benson<\/strong> penned the script<\/a>.\u00a0Johansson reprises her role in the film as Natasha Romanoff\/Black Widow and is joined by Florence Pugh<\/strong>, David Harbour<\/strong>, O-T Fagbenle<\/strong>, William Hurt<\/strong>, Ray Winstone<\/strong>, and Rachel Weisz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Marvel Studios\u2019 action-packed spy thriller \u201cBlack Widow,\u201d Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
