{"id":373992,"date":"2021-11-29T22:09:21","date_gmt":"2021-11-29T19:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/australia-to-introduce-new-laws-to-force-media-platforms-to-unmask-online-trolls\/"},"modified":"2021-11-29T22:09:21","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T19:09:21","slug":"australia-to-introduce-new-laws-to-force-media-platforms-to-unmask-online-trolls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/australia-to-introduce-new-laws-to-force-media-platforms-to-unmask-online-trolls\/","title":{"rendered":"#Australia to introduce new laws to force media platforms to unmask online trolls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Australia to introduce new laws to force <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> platforms to unmask online trolls<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/2017-07-03T043756Z_2105173147_RC12B6236BE0_RTRMADP_3_GLOBAL-TELECOMS-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>MELBOURNE, Nov 28 \u2013 Australia will introduce legislation to make social media giants provide details of users who post defamatory comments, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The government has been looking at the extent of the responsibility of platforms, such as Twitter and Facebook, for defamatory material published on their sites and comes after the country\u2019s highest court ruled that publishers can be held liable for public comments on online forums.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling caused some <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> companies like CNN to deny Australians access to their Facebook pages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe online world should not be a wild west where bots and bigots and trolls and others are anonymously going around and can harm people,\u201d Morrison said at a televised press briefing. \u201cThat is not what can h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en in the real world, and there is no case for it to be able to be happening in the digital world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new legislation will introduce a complaints mechanism so that if somebody thinks they are being defamed, bullied or attacked on social media, they will be able to require the platform to take the material down.<\/p>\n<p>If the content is not withdrawn, a court process could force a social media platform to provide details of the commenter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDigital platforms \u2013 these online companies \u2013 must have proper processes to enable the takedown of this content,\u201d Morrison said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have created the space and they need to make it safe, and if they won\u2019t, we will make them (through) laws such as this.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
