{"id":374116,"date":"2021-11-30T04:51:56","date_gmt":"2021-11-30T01:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/kelly-strategic-management-files-for-ethereum-futures-etf\/"},"modified":"2021-11-30T04:51:56","modified_gmt":"2021-11-30T01:51:56","slug":"kelly-strategic-management-files-for-ethereum-futures-etf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/kelly-strategic-management-files-for-ethereum-futures-etf\/","title":{"rendered":"# Kelly Strategic Management files for Ethereum futures ETF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong># Kelly Strategic Management files for Ethereum futures ETF <\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images.cointelegraph.com\/images\/840_aHR0cHM6Ly9zMy5jb2ludGVsZWdyYXBoLmNvbS91cGxvYWRzLzIwMjEtMTEvOTYyNGFjZGMtYWI0Ny00Y2JiLWEwMTYtODE0MjY3YWRjYWM3LmpwZw==.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content\" data-v-128018ef>Denver-based investment firm Kelly Strategic Management has filed for an exchange-traded fund (ETF) offering exposure to Ethereum (ETH) futures contracts.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes just three months after VanEck and ProShares suddenly withdrew their ETH futures ETF <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications on the same day in August. <\/p>\n<p>According to a Nov. 29 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1873280\/000089418921008363\/kellyethereumfuturesetf485.htm\">filing<\/a> with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Kelly Ethereum Ether Strategy ETF will invest in cash-settled Ether futures contracts traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). <\/p>\n<p>Bloomberg\u2019s Senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> today that Kelly\u2019s Ether ETF may have a slim 20% chance of getting approval, as he questioned whether the \u201cSEC is ready for this new step.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Balchunas\u2019 view, he thinks that SEC chairman Gary Gensler is \u201cnot mentally ready\u201d to approve anything other than a Bitcoin (BTC) futures ETF at this stage: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDuring the Bitcoin futures filing process in Aug, VanEck and ProShares filed for Ether ETFs too. SEC told them to withdraw them. It&#8217;s now 3 months (and 3 successful Bitcoin ETF futures ETF launches) later.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Balchunas added that if the rumors were true that the SEC told VanEck and ProShares to withdraw their respective Ether ETF filings as they provided exposure to crypto assets other than BTC, Kelly\u2019s ETF would have a 1% chance of approval.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just had quick chat with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JSeyff?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JSeyff<\/a> and our early, rough odds of approval of this ETF is about 20% unless this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/twobitidiot?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@twobitidiot<\/a> rumor is correct, then we&#8217;d obv go way lower like 1% (altho we still see multiple ETFs holding <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24ETHE&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$ETHE<\/a>) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ba4yRMsGS6\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ba4yRMsGS6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Eric Balchunas (@EricBalchunas) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EricBalchunas\/status\/1465398249674747910?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 29, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Researcher Jason Lowery <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JasonPLowery\/status\/1465398534191128577\">commented<\/a> &#8220;I would be surprised if SEC approved an ETH ETF b\/c it tacitly signals acceptance of ETH as not being an unregistered security.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>CME introduces micro Ether futures as ETH nears ATH above $4.4K<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The SEC has approved multiple BTC futures ETFs in the latter half of 2021, but it appears that the regulatory body is currently not willing to sign off on any type of fund that offers exposure to crypto outside of CME BTC futures contracts.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Anna Paglia the global head of ETFs and indexed strategies at Invesco highlighted as such, as she explained that her firm\u2019s decision to pull its BTC Futures ETF was that the SEC only approves Bitcoin ETFs with 100% exposure to Bitcoin futures.<\/p>\n<p>Invesco\u2019s ETF was aiming to provide a mix of futures swaps, physical Bitcoin, and private funds in the Bitcoin industry. <\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
