As part of the announcement, it was also revealed that Hivemind\u2019s first <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> partner is Algorand.<\/p>\n<p>Algorand is an open-source decentralized blockchain that was launched in mid-2019 by computer scientist Silvio Micali. The blockchain was designed for speed, security and stability and has been <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nasdaq.com\/articles\/why-algorand-could-finally-give-ethereum-a-run-for-its-money-2021-09-21\">touted<\/a> as an Ethereum competitor amid ALGO\u2019s surging growth in 2021. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlgorand is the most efficient next-generation blockchain software in the market right now, and it is the next frontier for investment opportunities and disruption,&#8221; said Arul Murugan, the founding managing partner at Borderless Capital. <\/p>\n<p>The new $500 million fund adds to $400 million worth of Alogrand focused funds that Borderless Capital already manages. Earlier this month the firm closed a $10 million <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/borderless-capital-closed-a-10m-planetsfund-to-build-green-data-economy-on-algorand-301430965.html?tc=eml_cleartime\">fund<\/a> focused on PlanetWatch, a decentralized air quality monitoring network built on Algorand. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Algorand launches virtual machine to increase smart contract capabilities<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/defillama.com\/chains\">data<\/a> from DeFi Llama, Algorand is currently ranked as the thirty-sixth largest blockchain in terms of total value locked (TVL) in DeFi at $97.4 million. The top project on the network is Yieldly (YLDY) which offers a suite of DeFi apps and has a total TVL of $68.4 million. <\/p>\n<p>Coingecko <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/algorand\">shows<\/a> that the price of ALGO is up 470% over the past 12 months to sit at $1.86 at the time of writing.
