An accompanying <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> release <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/52543725\/en\">said<\/a> that Square Crypto, the cryptocurrency-focused branch of the payment firm, will also be changing its name to Spiral and joining the Block family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlock references the neighborhood blocks where we find our sellers, a blockchain, block parties full of music, obstacles to overcome, a section of code, building blocks, and of course, tungsten cubes,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Square\/status\/1466158911413760004\">said<\/a> Square. \u201cWe\u2019ve been working to make this change for over a year, and it only represents a change of our official corporate name; not our purpose, our vision, our structure or how we operate.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We\u2019re changing our company name so we can give the full <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Square?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Square<\/a> brand to our Seller business. That name is \u201cBlock.\u201d Why? <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vVSKNnMUU3\">https:\/\/t.co\/vVSKNnMUU3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Square (@Square) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Square\/status\/1466158910067388423?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 1, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe rebranding comes a mere two days after Square \u2014 now Block \u2014 CEO Jack Dorsey resigned his position at Twitter, citing the need to give his replacement, chief technology officer and board member Parag Agrawal, the space to work without his influence at the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> giant. At the time, many speculated that Dorsey would get deeper into crypto and blockchain through Square\u2019s operations, in much the same way Facebook turned its focus away from social media with a rebranding to Meta. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlock is a new name, but our purpose of economic empowerment remains the same,\u201d said Dorsey on the name change. \u201cNo matter how we grow or change, we will continue to build tools to help increase access to the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Jack Dorsey outlines Square\u2019s tentative plans for Bitcoin hardware wallet<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Square said the legal name change would be effective \u201con or about\u201d Dec. 10.
