It might look like it occasionally, but trust me when I say we work\u00a0<em>really<\/em>\u00a0hard on these. I suspect most of us won\u2019t be fully appreciated until we die.<\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest challenges we face when creating these works of art is removing the background from images, so we can use them as layers to construct our masterpieces.<\/p>\n<p>In this guide, we\u2019re going to take a look at some methods we use for removing backgrounds from images so you too can become an image wizard.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_1_Use_a_free_app_in_your_browser\"><\/span>Method 1. Use a free app in your browser<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are several tools you can use online for this task, and they\u2019re mostly pretty good at tackling it in one step.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.remove.bg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Remove.bg<\/a>\u00a0is one of the quickest methods for removing the background from an image. It\u2019s web-based so you don\u2019t need any specialist software, and it does all the work for you.<\/p>\n<p>Head to Remove.bg, upload your image, click go, and let it do all the heavy lifting. In my experience, the low res output is more than enough for face-swapping, Photoshop fun times, though.<\/p>\n<p>You can download as many low resolution \u201cpreviews\u201d as you want, but full res images cost about 20 cents a piece. Honestly, this app is so good, and so fast, if you\u2019re in a hurry and need a high-res image it might be worth paying.<\/p>\n<p>There are a bunch more such tools online that you can use for free, including<a href=\"https:\/\/removal.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">\u00a0this Adobe Spark one<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/removal.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Removal.ai<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_2_GIMP\"><\/span>Method 2. GIMP<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gimp.org\/downloads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gnu Image Manipulation Program or GIMP<\/a>\u00a0for short, is an open-source image editing program, oh, and it\u2019s free! Given that it costs nothing and is available on various platforms, it\u2019s pretty great. It\u2019s got tons of features, and supports every file format I can think of, I\u2019ve certainly never been left wanting more.<\/p>\n<p>All those complex features come with a learning curve, though. Basically, this adds a transparent background behind your image so when we come to remove the background, there\u2019s something there, albeit see through. Once you\u2019ve done this, click on the background of the image, and it will select the background based on the most common color.
