\n These cemetery cameras aren\u2019t intended for security \u2014 they offer the virus-weary living the ability to have \u201con-demand virtual burial visits\u201d with the departed.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, tech company AFTR launched two weather-resistant, solar-powered cameras that grievers can attach to headstones or place in-ground at gravesites to digitally access their loved ones\u2019 final resting places. Each model costs $499.<\/p>\n

The \u201cdeath care\u201d tech features HD video, night vision, two-way audio and 24\/7 streaming access to a gravesite through a mobile- and tablet-compatible app<\/a>. The app is also intended to be used as a diary, where mourners can save videos, notes, music and photos.<\/p>\n

The Brooklyn-based company\u2019s founder and 12-year camera industry veteran, Joseph Schechter, was inspired to \u201cbring burial visits into the digital age\u201d by his father\u2019s death, according to a press release.<\/p>\n

The invention comes at a time when record numbers of people have been forced to hold funerals online due to the coronavirus pandemic making gatherings, even those to grieve, unsafe for the living.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome cemeteries are not letting people out of cars, or people have to wait for grave workers to complete their work, before they can visit,\u201d Queens funeral director Irene Elcock told The Post in March. \u201cIt\u2019s a terrifying time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Customers\u2019 testimonies on the company\u2019s website are not specific to COVID.<\/p>\n

\u201cI moved to New York for work right after my mother passed away and was devastated not to be able to see her resting place,\u201d reads one review from a 58-year-old named Michael. \u201cWhen the headstone went up I couldn\u2019t be there in person, but I was able to stream it virtually and join my siblings in prayer. Today, I connect whenever I\u2019m missing her, and I have got a bunch of her favorite Frank Sinatra songs saved in the app that bring me back to happier times with her.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
