Notepad is one of the most basic app<\/a>s in Windows, but that\u2019s exactly why so many people still love it: it\u2019s a barebones text editor free of distractions. Still, I\u2019ve got to admit it looks a little outdated by Windows 11\u2018s standards, but luckily a fix is on the way: Microsoft today announced<\/a> a redesigned version of Notepad, currently rolling out to Windows Insiders in the Dev channel.<\/p>\n

Most note<\/em>-ably, it finally, at long last, includes a dark mode. That means you won\u2019t have to sear your eyeballs when you\u2019re writing something up in the middle of the night, or it might just fit your stealthy aesthetic better.<\/p>\n

Notepad will adapt to your system theme by default, but you can also edit the app\u2019s look in the new settings menu located in the upper right corner, which is also where you can now select your preferred font.<\/p>\n
