\nSkilyr Hicks<\/strong>, who was a contestant on season 8 of America\u2019s Got Talent <\/em>as a 14-year-old, sadly passed away on Monday. She was just 23.<\/p>\n

According to the singer\u2019s mother Jodi<\/strong>, who spoke with TMZ<\/em>, the young star was found dead in her friend\u2019s home in Liberty, South Carolina. No cause of death is known at this time, though Chief Deputy\u00a0Chad Brooks<\/strong> at the Pickens County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/strong> told the outlet they suspect a drug overdose. Hicks was reportedly found inside a bathroom with drugs and paraphernalia around the scene.<\/p>\n

Her mother also revealed that Skilyr had been struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse lately, reflecting:<\/p>\n
