You can use Gmail or any other email client to do it, and we\u2019ll show you how on desktop and mobile.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Multiple_Ways_to_Email_a_Google_Doc\"><\/span>Multiple Ways to Email a Google Doc<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To email a Google doc, you can <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/400707\/how-to-share-links-to-your-google-doc-as-a-pdf\/\">use an option within Google Docs that uses your Gmail account. Or, if you\u2019d like to use your own email app, you can download your Google doc from the site to your computer, then attach that doc to an email in your email app.<\/p>\n<p>You can email Google docs from your mobile devices as well, as we\u2019ll explain below. Throughout the guide, we use the term \u201cdoc\u201d which refers to Google Docs documents. This sends your doc as an attachment via Gmail.<\/p>\n<p>To use this method, open a web browser on your computer and launch the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/u\/0\/\">Google Docs<\/a> site. Here, you can specify options for the email which will contain your Google doc as an attachment. Here\u2019s what each option means:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Send Yourself a Copy<\/strong>: Enable this box if you\u2019d like to receive a copy of the email that will be sent to the recipient.<\/li>\n<li><strong>To<\/strong>: Type the recipient\u2019s email address in this field. This is the person who will receive your Google doc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Subject<\/strong>: Enter a subject for the email which will contain your Google doc. By default, your doc\u2019s name is the subject line, but you can change it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Message<\/strong>: Type an optional message that you\u2019d like to send along with your document.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t Attach. Include Content in the Email<\/strong>: If you enable this option, Google Docs will embed the contents of your doc in the email itself instead of attaching the doc as an attachment. This works for when your recipient can\u2019t download attachments for some reason, but it\u2019s not recommended as this can cause issues with the formatting of your doc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PDF<\/strong>: Select the format in which your Google doc will be emailed. The recipient needs to open their inbox to download your file. Very handy!<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Email_a_Google_Doc_From_Another_Email_Client_on_Desktop\"><\/span>Email a Google Doc From Another Email Client on Desktop<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you\u2019d like to use a non-Gmail email service or <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/128005\/what-you-said-desktop-vs.-web-based-email-cients\/\">an email client on your computer to send your Google doc, first download the doc file to your computer, then attach it to your email in your preferred email service.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, open your document on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/u\/0\/\">Google Docs<\/a> site. On the editing screen, select File &gt; Download. To do so, use the free Google Docs app on your phone.<\/p>\n<p>First, open the Google Docs app on your phone and sign in to your account. Then tap the document you\u2019d like to send by email.
