{"id":379336,"date":"2021-12-10T21:28:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-10T18:28:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/i-thought-i-was-going-to-die\/"},"modified":"2021-12-10T21:28:28","modified_gmt":"2021-12-10T18:28:28","slug":"i-thought-i-was-going-to-die","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/i-thought-i-was-going-to-die\/","title":{"rendered":"#&#8217;I thought I was going to die&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#&#8217;I thought I was going to die&#8217;<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>That otter hurt. <\/p>\n<p>A Singapore resident was hospitalized after a bizarre animal attack last month in which he was accosted by a gang of otters, who reportedly bit him 26 times. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually thought I was going to die \u2013 they were going to kill me,\u201d British native Graham George Spencer\u00a0told <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/environment\/i-actually-thought-i-was-going-to-die-man-who-was-attacked-by-otters-at\">the Straits Times<\/a> of the otterly frightening encounter, which occurred Nov. 30 while he was strolling to the Singapore Botanic Gardens with a friend.<\/p>\n<p>Spencer, who is in his 60s, was reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roaching the visitors center when he spotted around 20 otters crossing a dimly-lit path in front of him. He claimed it was the first time he had seen the mustelids in the area despite taking his morning walks there for five months. The pair then ran for the visitor\u2019s center with the otters in pursuit for a short distance, according to the Straits Times.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly thereafter, a guard \u2014 who appeared to be returning from a break \u2014 treated Spencer\u2019s wounds with bandages and offered to call an ambulance. However, the hardy ex-pat declined, instead opting to walk to a hospital across the street, as it was closer. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignright\">\n<blockquote><p>\u2018I was bitten 26 times in 10 seconds.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>There, doctors administered Spencer tetanus shots and oral antibiotics and stitched up his wounds before discharging him the same day. The park has also posted signs at the park\u2019s entrance, warning guests about the aggressive animals. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cYou got to keep the public away from (the otters) because this will happen again,\u201d cautioned Spencer in a statement to Today. <\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, experts said that otter attacks are exceedingly rare. <\/p>\n<p>Bernard Seah, a member of tracking organizations OtterWatch and the Otter Working Group, said Spencer\u2019s attackers were a pack of smooth-coated otters called the \u201cZouk family,\u201d which are reportedly \u201cthe most human-tolerant otter family\u201d in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my years of documenting otters\u2019 behaviors, I have never heard of such an aggressive attack,\u201d said the incredulous researcher. <\/p>\n<p>However, this isn\u2019t the first time otters have assaulted someone. The most recent incident in May concerned a 77-year-old man who was bitten on the leg near the Kallang River.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in a similar instance in 2019, a man was forced to rescue his dog from a pack of vicious river otters in Alaska. <\/p>\n<p>  \u00a0\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
