Dickinson<\/em> continues its trip<\/a>py ride through the show\u2019s final episodes as viewers app<\/a>roach the ending of Emily Dickinson\u2019s (Hailee Steinfeld) coming-of-age tale on Apple TV+.<\/p>\n

In the latest installment, \u201cMy Life had stood \u2013 a Loaded Gun -,\u201d Emily grapples with the loss of a close friend to the Civil War and must reckon with the aspects of her life that need to change in order for her to thrive. But how does one find hope in the darkest of times? By going deeper into the darkness, of course.<\/p>\n

Referred to by series<\/a> creator Alena Smith and the rest of the cast as \u201cthe Inferno Episode,\u201d viewers follow Emily as she descends into a surreal realm that one could liken to hell. Down there, her family and love, Sue (Ella Hunt), give voice to some of her biggest fears. \u201cEmily is living her nightmare at this moment, and so you can blame her for everything that\u2019s gone wrong in your life,\u201d Anna Baryshnikov, who plays Emily\u2019s sister Lavinia, tells TV Insider.<\/p>\n

In Emily\u2019s personal inferno, Lavinia, who is usually her biggest supporter, blames the poet for her lack of marriage and decides to burn her poems. \u201cAnd that\u2019s so unlike what the real Lavinia would do,\u201d Baryshnikov muses, \u201cbut it also felt like, maybe there\u2019s a twinge of that in her.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole Inferno Episode was probably my favorite nightmare I\u2019ve ever personally lived through,\u201d Steinfeld gushes. \u201cTo get to encounter every character and have these conversations with them that are the complete opposite of what Emily could ever hope for was [wild].\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember the first time we did it, after the first take, I was truly affected by all of their performances,\u201d remarks Steinfeld who is currently pulling double duty as she appears in Dickinson<\/em> and Disney+\u2018s Hawkeye <\/em>simultaneously. \u201cThat\u2019s what Emily\u2019s poetry is. And that\u2019s what this show is, ultimately. So, although it was one of those surreal moments, it felt very real for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the surrealist moments because they feel so in line with Dickinson\u2019s poetry,\u201d echoes Baryshnikov, \u201cwhich is so eclectic and can bounce from something incredibly lighthearted and beautiful about nature, and then become the most descriptive, morbid understanding of death. I feel so lucky to be on a show that takes those kinds of creative risks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Helping bing those creative risks to life is series creator Smith who describes this installment as \u201cthe climax of the entire season.\u201d The Inferno Episode Smith says, \u201cfunctions like a music video for that poem,\u201d referring to Emily\u2019s \u201cMy Life Had Stood a Loaded Gun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bringing to life the concept that it\u2019s always darkest before the dawn, this Inferno Episode may have explored Emily\u2019s version of Hell, but she\u2019s come out of the ordeal stronger. See how she uses this strength to her advantage in the show\u2019s final episodes arriving once weekly each Friday on Apple TV+.<\/p>\n
