Megan previously told <em>People<\/em> that she planned on pursuing her college studies in honor of her mother <strong>Holly Pete<\/strong>, who passed away in March 2019 after a battle with brain cancer.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI want to get my degree because I really want my mom to be proud. She saw me going to school before she passed. My grandmother that\u2019s still alive used to be a teacher, so she\u2019s on my butt about finishing school. I\u2019m doing it for me, but I\u2019m also doing it for the women in my family who made me who I am today.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And although she is busy with her music career at the moment, the rap star wants to use her degree to help others:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI really wanted to be an administrator over a hospital, but I knew I still wanted to be Megan Thee Stallion. I was like, \u2018What can I do?\u2019 I was like, \u2018You know what, I\u2019m gonna open an assisted-living facility and use the money that I make from rapping to open it.
