Liberal: Democrats\u2019 Hispanic Voter Problem<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Democrats are steadily losing ground with Hispanic voters,\u201d observes Ruy Teixeira at Liberal Patriot<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not as bad as you think, it\u2019s worse\u201d: \u201cIn the most recent Wall Street Journal poll, Hispanic voters were split evenly between Democrats and Republicans in the 2022 generic congressional ballot. And in a 2024 hypothetical rematch between [Donald] Trump and [Joe] Biden, these voters favored Biden by only a single point. This is among a voter group that favored Biden over Trump in 2020 by 26 points.\u201d Why? Hispanics are \u201can overwhelmingly working class, economically progressive, social<\/a>ly moderate constituency that cares above all about jobs, the economy and health care.\u201d Whoever delivers on those fronts has their vote. Right now, that\u2019s not the Democrats.\u00a0<\/p>\n

From the right: Biden\u2019s Bad Year<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Biden \u201cends his first year in the Oval Office not as a contrast to [Donald] Trump, but rather a contrast to competency,\u201d snarks David Winston at Roll Call. Team Biden \u201cmade the wrong choice<\/a> at almost every point in this new presidency, starting on Day One by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline to placate Democrats\u2019 strident progressive wing.\u201d The prez \u201ccalled defeating the coronavirus job one\u201d and \u201cdeclared victory\u201d in July only to see \u201cthe number of deaths on his watch surpass the numbers under\u201d Trump. He pumped trillions \u201cinto the economy as new, intrusive regulations put the brakes on growth, but not on inflation.\u201d And \u201cthen there was Afghanistan.\u201d Biden \u201cneeds to accept that simply not being Trump isn\u2019t actually being president. . . . If he doesn\u2019t, next year could be worse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Libertarian: The ACLU\u2019s Mission Creep<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cForgiving student debt\u201d might be a good idea, Reason\u2019s Jacob Sullum notes, but \u201ccontinuing to collect payments on student loans violates no one\u2019s civil liberties.\u201d \u201cSo why is the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which ostensibly exists to defend constitutional rights,\u201d collecting signatures for a petition to cancel all student debt under $50,000?<\/a> It\u2019s \u201canother sign that the venerable organization has strayed so far from its historic mission that it is becoming indistinguishable from myriad progressive advocacy groups.\u201d It even attacked the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict: \u201cThus did an organization that is supposedly dedicated to defending the rights of criminal defendants abandon that cause, bowing to political correctness by implying that the law and the evidence did not matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pandemic journal: Fire Fauci<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAnthony Fauci, the country\u2019s No. 1 public health enemy,\u201d essentially said \u201cAmericans should be demanding \u2018your papers, please\u2019 of their friends and family\u201d by suggesting they require \u201ctheir guests show them proof of vaccination,\u201d fume Issues & Insights\u2019 editors. The \u201cpetty tyrant\u201d who has \u201cruining Christmas on his mind\u201d is \u201ca career bureaucrat with too much power, and too much influence<\/a>, both of which have been imparted to him by Democrats and the media, not for his achievements but because\u201d he would \u201ccontradict Donald Trump.\u201d \u201cLockdowns cost livelihoods \u2014 and lives.\u201d Fauci has not only been at \u201cthe forefront of this rancid stew of public health policy,\u201d he\u2019s \u201cobfuscated, evaded and outright lied before Congress.\u201d He should \u201cbe fired for dishonesty as well as his incompetence.\u201d<\/p>\n

China watch: Beijing\u2019s \u2018Democracy\u2019 Lie<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone understands that China is in fierce competition with the United States,\u201d Jianli Yang writes at National Review<\/a>. But it would be \u201cridiculous\u201d to think the fight was between two democracies. No, it\u2019s \u201cbetween the world\u2019s most powerful democracy and the world\u2019s most powerful autocracy.\u201d That\u2019s why Beijing argued in a white paper in advance of President Biden\u2019s democracy summit that \u201cdemocracy is the right of the people of all countries\u201d and that it exists perfectly in China under the Chinese Communist Party. That\u2019s a \u201cfarfetched lie,\u201d and the CCP knows it. Its \u201cleaders know that the system they have adopted is far from democratic, but they also know in their hearts that democracy is a good thing, so they insist on calling their system a \u2018democracy.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n
