Apple users have been able to use and find AirTag trackers for <\/span>more than half a year<\/span>, and now Android users can join in on the fun. The company just released <\/span>an Android app<\/span><\/a> that allows those with that operating system to find AirTags.<\/span><\/p>\n

The app, called Tracker Detect, lets Android users tap into Apple\u2019s Find My network to find <\/span>AirTags<\/span> and other trackers. Apple\u2019s had this detection app in the works <\/span>since first announcing it<\/span> back in June, and it will promptly alert users if and when they\u2019re being tracked by an AirTag or similar Find My-enabled device.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Those interested in the app will need to ensure their device is running at least Android 9 in order to download and use it. It\u2019ll take up a measly 19MB on your phone, so you won\u2019t have to worry about it hogging your precious storage much.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the app\u2019s description in the Google Play Store, it \u201clooks for item trackers that are separated from their owner and that are compatible with Apple\u2019s Find My network. These item trackers include AirTag and compatible devices from other companies. If you think someone is using AirTag or another device to track your location, you can scan to try to find it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tracker Detect is super easy to use, too. Simply open the app, tap the blue \u201cScan\u201d button, and it will let you know within moments if there is a tracker near you. If one is found, you will see a prompt that\u2019ll let you play a sound (within about 10 minutes of finding it) on the tracker so you can manually find it from there. The app also walks you through how to remove an AirTag\u2019s battery so no further tracking can be done (that is, until you replace the battery).<\/span><\/p>\n
