You only have to toggle on a one-time setting and it enables automatic updates. If you\u2019re having issues with updating, though, you can still force a manual update from within the app or download the latest app file from the Zoom site.<\/p>\n<p>On a Linux machine, you do not have the automatic update option in Zoom. You will have to rely on manual update methods.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Update_Zoom_Automatically_Windows_and_Mac\"><\/span>Update Zoom Automatically (Windows and Mac)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To make Zoom automatically download and install app updates, enable a one-time option in the app as follows. Make sure you have <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/709060\/what-does-run-as-administrator-mean-in-windows-10\/\">admin rights on your computer, as you will need them to toggle on the option.<\/p>\n<p>Start by opening the Zoom app on your computer. You might get an admin prompt, in which you have to select yes.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-773111\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/4-zoom-enable-automatic-updates.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Enable the &quot;Automatically Keep Zoom Up to Date&quot; option.\" width=\"650\" height=\"264\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Next to the \u201cAutomatically Keep Zoom Up to Date\u201d option, you have a drop-down menu letting you select how often you wish to receive Zoom updates.<\/p>\n<p>The available options are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Slow<\/strong>: If you select this option, Zoom will get fewer updates but your app experience will be more stable.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fast<\/strong>: This option will give you more frequent updates, but at the possible cost of app stability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-773112\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/5-zoom-update-frequency.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Select &quot;Slow&quot; or &quot;Fast.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"182\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Save your settings by closing the \u201cSettings\u201d window.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Update_Zoom_Manually_Windows_Mac_and_Linux\"><\/span>Update Zoom Manually (Windows, Mac, and Linux)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If you are on Linux, or if Zoom doesn\u2019t seem to be updating\u00a0automatically on your Windows or Mac computer, force the app to check for and install new updates.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, first, open Zoom on your computer. Then, in Zoom\u2019s top-right corner, click your profile icon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-770141\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/1-zoom-desktop-profile.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"\" width=\"573\" height=\"366\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In the menu that opens, click \u201cCheck for Updates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-770142\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/2-zoom-desktop-check-updates.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Click &quot;Check for Updates&quot; in Zoom's profile menu.\" width=\"574\" height=\"299\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You will see a \u201cZoom Update\u201d window. Here, Zoom will automatically check for any available updates. If an update is available, it will be installed. If there are no updates available, you will see a message stating \u201cYou are up to date.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the updates are installed, or if no updates are available, close the \u201cZoom Update\u201d window by clicking \u201cClose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-770143\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/3-zoom-desktop-update.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Get Zoom updates on desktop.\" width=\"650\" height=\"220\"\/><\/p>\n<p>And Zoom is now up to date on your computer. You can now <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/662339\/how-to-join-a-zoom-meeting\/\">join your Zoom meetings with this latest app version.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Download_and_Update_Zoom_Windows_Mac_and_Linux\"><\/span>Download and Update Zoom (Windows, Mac, and Linux)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In case you are experiencing an issue where <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/676235\/how-to-troubleshoot-your-zoom-call\/\">Zoom won\u2019t open on your computer, or it won\u2019t update using the in-app options, download the latest Zoom app from its site and install it on your computer. This way, you will have the latest version of Zoom.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, open a web browser on your computer and access the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/redirect.viglink.com\/?key=204a528a336ede4177fff0d84a044482&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fzoom.us%2Fdownload\">Zoom Download Center<\/a> site.<\/p>\n<p>On the site, click the large \u201cDownload\u201d button.
