{"id":380943,"date":"2021-12-14T18:15:08","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T15:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/apple-googles-vice-like-grip-over-mobile-market-criticized\/"},"modified":"2021-12-14T18:15:08","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T15:15:08","slug":"apple-googles-vice-like-grip-over-mobile-market-criticized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/apple-googles-vice-like-grip-over-mobile-market-criticized\/","title":{"rendered":"#Apple, Google&#8217;s &#8216;vice-like grip&#8217; over mobile market criticized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le, Google&#8217;s &#8216;vice-like grip&#8217; over mobile market criticized<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Apple and Google hold a \u201cvice-like grip\u201d over the mobile phone market that stifles innovation and drives up costs for consumers, according to a scathing new report from a British regulator.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The UK Competition and Markets Authority on Tuesday slammed the companies\u2019 \u201coverly restrictive\u201d app stores, which have been criticized by developers including Fortnite maker Epic <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a>s for charging commissions on in-app payments of up to 30 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Since more than 95 percent of UK app downloads were made through Apple or Google\u2019s app stores in 2020, developers have no choice but to pony up a large chunk of their profits just to access the marketplace, the London-based regulator argued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The end result of this \u201cduopoly\u201d is likely higher prices for consumers, the regulator argued, since onerous app store fees are ultimately passed on to them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The regulator also argued that both tech giants have taken steps to crimp competition in free services like internet browsers.
