Here\u2019s how to set it up.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Encrypted_DNS_Is_More_Private_and_Secure\"><\/span>Encrypted DNS Is More Private and Secure<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Every time you visit a website using a domain name (such as \u201cgoogle.com,\u201d for example), your computer sends a request to a Domain Name System (DNS) server. The DNS server takes the domain name and looks up the matching IP address from a list. It sends the IP address back to your computer, which your computer then uses to connect to the site.<\/p>\n<p>This domain name fetching process traditionally h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened unencrypted on the network. Any point in between could intercept the domain names of the sites you are visiting. With DNS over HTTPS, also known as DoH, the communications between your computer and a DoH-enabled DNS server are encrypted. No one can intercept your DNS requests to snoop on the addresses you\u2019re visiting or tamper with the responses from the DNS server.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First_Choose_a_Supported_Free_DNS_Service\"><\/span>First, Choose a Supported Free DNS Service<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As of Windows 11\u2019s release, DNS over HTTPS in Windows 11 only works with a certain hard-coded list of <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/664608\/why-you-shouldnt-be-using-your-isps-default-dns-server\/\">free DNS services (you can see the list yourself by running <code>netsh dns show encryption<\/code> in a Terminal window).<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the current list of supported IPv4 DNS service addresses as of November 2021:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Google DNS Primary:<\/strong> 8.8.8.8<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google DNS Secondary:<\/strong> 8.8.4.4<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloudflare DNS Primary:<\/strong> 1.1.1.1<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloudflare DNS Secondary:<\/strong> 1.0.0.1<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quad9 DNS Primary:<\/strong> 9.9.9.9<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quad9 DNS Secondary: <\/strong>149.112.112.112<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For IPv6, here is the\u00a0 list of supported DNS service addresses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Google DNS Primary:<\/strong> 2001:4860:4860::8888<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google DNS Secondary:<\/strong> 2001:4860:4860::8844<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloudflare DNS Primary:<\/strong> 2606:4700:4700::1111<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloudflare DNS Secondary:<\/strong> 2606:4700:4700::1001<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quad9 DNS Primary:<\/strong> 2620:fe::fe<\/li>\n<li><strong>Quad9 DNS Secondary:\u00a0<\/strong>2620:fe::fe:9<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When it comes time to enable DoH in the section below, you\u2019ll need to choose two pairs of these DNS servers\u2014primary and secondary for IPv4 and IPv6\u2014to use with your Windows 11 PC. Similarly, enter the secondary DNS server address in the \u201cAlternate DNS\u201d box (such as \u201c8.8.4.4\u201d).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_tip\"><p><strong>Tip:<\/strong> If you don\u2019t see the DNS encryption options, then you\u2019re editing the DNS settings for your Wi-Fi SSID.
