\n Former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke has been permanently banned from Twitter for spewing hate speech on the social media platform, the company said Thursday.<\/p>\n

Duke, a self-proclaimed white supremacist<\/span> and ex-grand wizard of the Knights of the KKK, was \u201cpermanently suspended\u201d for violating rules about \u201chateful conduct,\u201d a company spokesman told CNET.<\/p>\n

The move follows YouTube\u2019s ban of Duke in June, and comes after Twitter changed its policy in March to prohibit posts that promote violence or threats of violence against people based on their race, religion or ethnicity.<\/p>\n

Duke\u2019s final tweet linked to an interview with German holocaust denier Germar Rudolf \u2014 who was convicted of the denial in his homeland, where it\u2019s a crime \u2014 and vowed to expose the \u201csystemic racism lie,\u201d according to the BBC. Another recent tweet claimed to expose the \u201cincitement of violence against white people\u201d by Jewish-owned media.<\/p>\n

In 2017, Duke was briefly booted from Twitter and promptly blamed Jews and enemies of President Trump on his radio show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI expose the fact that Israel is an ethno-state,\u201d he said, according to the Jewish news<\/a> site Forward.com. \u201cThey\u2019re trying to make [Trump] go to jail and die in jail\u2026 They\u2019re going to war against me, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duke, a former Louisiana state representative who ran a failed US presidential campaign in 1988, is \u201cperhaps America\u2019s most well-known racist and anti-Semite,\u201d according to The Anti-Defamation League.<\/p>\n

He was a grand wizard of the Knights of the KKK in the 1970s.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
