{"id":381436,"date":"2021-12-15T18:58:27","date_gmt":"2021-12-15T15:58:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/antarcticas-doomsday-glacier-could-collapse-in-3-years\/"},"modified":"2021-12-15T18:58:27","modified_gmt":"2021-12-15T15:58:27","slug":"antarcticas-doomsday-glacier-could-collapse-in-3-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/antarcticas-doomsday-glacier-could-collapse-in-3-years\/","title":{"rendered":"#Antarctica&#8217;s &#8216;doomsday glacier&#8217; could collapse in 3 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Antarctica&#8217;s &#8216;doomsday glacier&#8217; could collapse in 3 years<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>A massive \u201cdoomsday glacier\u201d that is melting in Antarctica could lead to a rise of more than 2 feet in global sea levels when its ice shelf shatters \u2014 which could h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en as soon as three years from now, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>The Thwaites Glacier \u2014 roughly the size of Florida at a staggering 74,000 square miles \u2014 extends to a depth of about 2,600 to 3,900 feet at its grounding line, where it transitions from a land-attached ice mass to the floating ice shelf, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livescience.com\/agu-antarctica-thwaites-glacier-future\">Live Science reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is dubbed the \u201cdoomsday glacier\u201d because its collapse could trigger a surrounding glacial cascade that the latest research suggests could come far sooner than expected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is going to be a dramatic change in the front of the glacier, probably in less than a decade.
