\n The George W. Bush Presidential Center was hacked in a recent ransomware attack in which some donors\u2019 information was stolen but purportedly destroyed later, according to the center.<\/p>\n

Data management services provider Blackbaud told the Bush Center on July 16 that it had thwarted the attack in May \u2014 but that the cybercriminals \u201cremoved a copy of some of the Bush Center\u2019s data regarding donors and other contacts,\u201d the center said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to Blackbaud, any Social<\/a> Security numbers or payment card information contained in the affected systems were encrypted and the decryption keys were not compromised,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, there was unencrypted, less sensitive information obtained, such as name, birth date, physical and email addresses, telephone numbers, gender and giving history,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n

Blackbaud said it has \u201cpaid a ransom to the attackers in order to obtain confirmation that the \u200ecompromised unencrypted information has been destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n

The center added: \u201cTo date, there \u200eis no indication that any of the compromised unencrypted information is subject to further disclosure or misuse\u200e, and given the intent of the criminals to obtain the payment of the ransom, the Bush Center does not \u200ebelieve there is a high risk that the unencrypted information would be used for other purposes.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
