The answer depends on whether you have set up a Legacy Contact, a feature added by Apple in iOS 15.2. Here\u2019s how it works, and exactly what the person you nominate can do and access.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_a_Legacy_Contact\"><\/span>What Is a Legacy Contact?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A legacy contact is someone you nominate to access your data after you die. This data includes <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> like photos and videos, message history, notes, files, contacts, calendar entries, downloaded apps and app data, and backups of any devices stored in iCloud. A legacy contact will be able to remove Activation Lock from your devices if they want to use them personally, give them away, or sell them.<\/p>\n<p>They will not have access to your stored logins or passwords, any iCloud email accounts you use, or any of your licensed media. That means you can\u2019t pass on your collection of music, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a>, or apps (unless those apps already exist on a device that you owned).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-768584\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/request_access.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Request Legacy Contact Access\" width=\"650\" height=\"456\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Apple reviews all requests made by legacy contacts before providing access to any data. Requests can be made via the Digital Legacy website at <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/digital-legacy.apple.com\/\">digital-legacy.apple.com<\/a>. For a request to be granted, the person will need access to the access key provided when they were first nominated, in addition to a copy of your death certificate and your date of birth.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, it\u2019s very important that legacy contacts (yourself or otherwise) make a note of the access key. If you select Print, the print dialog will appear (there\u2019s no option to print to file at the time of writing).
