{"id":381999,"date":"2021-12-16T20:10:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T17:10:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/hr-block-sues-block-formerly-square-over-new-name\/"},"modified":"2021-12-16T20:10:28","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T17:10:28","slug":"hr-block-sues-block-formerly-square-over-new-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/hr-block-sues-block-formerly-square-over-new-name\/","title":{"rendered":"#H&#038;R Block sues Block, formerly Square, over new name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#H&amp;R Block sues Block, formerly Square, over new name<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Tax preparation company H&amp;R\u00a0Block\u00a0on Thursday sued payment company\u00a0Block, previously called Square, saying the new name infringed its trademarks.<\/p>\n<p>Block\u2019s chief executive, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> co-founder Jack Dorsey, announced the name change earlier this month as the company looked to expand beyond its payment service into new areas, including\u00a0blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>In a complaint filed in Kansas City, Missouri, federal court, however, H&amp;R\u00a0Block\u00a0accused the company of \u201cstealing\u00a0Block\u2019s name in order to co-opt the reputation and goodwill that\u00a0Block\u00a0has earned through decades of hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Block\u00a0did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>H&amp;R\u00a0Block\u00a0said consumers were likely to be confused by the similar name, noting that it has referred to itself simply as \u201cBlock\u201d in some advertisements since 2015.<\/p>\n<p>It said the two companies were direct competitors in tax preparation services since\u00a0Block\u00a0bought Credit Karma Tax, now called Cash <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a> Taxes, last year.
