{"id":382045,"date":"2021-12-16T19:36:30","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T16:36:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/ontario-will-make-booster-shots-easier-to-get\/"},"modified":"2021-12-16T19:36:30","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T16:36:30","slug":"ontario-will-make-booster-shots-easier-to-get","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/ontario-will-make-booster-shots-easier-to-get\/","title":{"rendered":"#Ontario will make booster shots easier to get"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Ontario will make booster shots easier to get<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n                            Politics Insider for Dec. 16, 2021: Feds scrambling over Omicron; Booster shots in Ontario; and no more gathering restrictions for unvaxxed Albertans\n                        <\/div>\n<div>\n                                                                        <strong><em>Welcome to a sneak peek of the\u00a0<\/em>Maclean\u2019s<em>\u00a0Politics Insider\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letter.\u00a0Sign up to get it delivered\u00a0straight to your inbox in the morning.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The federal government announced a new <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/politics\/article-canada-reimposes-advisory-against-all-non-essential-international\/?utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter\">travel advisory<\/a> on Wednesday, as news about omicron got scarier, but behind the scenes the <strong>feds were scrambling<\/strong> to put in place a new plan to manage <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> ahead of the Christmas holidays, <strong>Justin Ling<\/strong> writes in <em>Maclean\u2019s<\/em>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sources who spoke to\u00a0<i>Maclean\u2019s<\/i>\u00a0say cabinet was briefed Tuesday by at least two departments on how it might ramp up testing in time for the holiday rush\u2014but both warned the plan to test everyone arriving in Canada\u2019s airports was practically impossible.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"fsk_splitbox\" data-google-query-id=\"CL7GtN7k5vQCFS7NKAUdrhgNKQ\">\nOttawa considered other measures, but there was little enthusiasm in provincial capitals.<\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>Ottawa further considered the idea of banning foreign nationals from coming into the country for non-essential purposes; to reimpose the 14-day mandatory quarantine for travellers, regardless of vaccination status; and to end the testing exemption for those making trips of under 72-hours to the United States. One source with second-hand knowledge of the call said <strong>those proposals went over poorly with the premiers<\/strong>. A second source confirmed that there was \u201cnot much enthusiasm\u201d from the premiers. On Wednesday afternoon, Alberta Premier <strong>Jason Kenney<\/strong> said additional travel measures would be\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mobile.twitter.com\/Adam_Toy\/status\/1471162430575108100\">ineffective<\/a>\u00a0at this point.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>More boosters:<\/strong> In Ontario, <strong>Doug Ford<\/strong> announced the province will expand eligibility for booster shots and is limiting capacity in some indoor spaces as cases of the Omicron variant surge.\u00a0CTV<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/toronto.ctvnews.ca\/ontario-expands-eligibility-for-covid-19-booster-shots-cuts-capacity-limits-in-some-indoor-spaces-1.5708047?cid=sm:trueanthem:ctvnews:twittermanualpost&amp;taid=61ba5989077e6f000188a7c0&amp;utm_campaign=trueAnthem:+New+Content+(Feed)&amp;utm_medium=trueAnthem&amp;utm_source=twitter\"> reports:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI need you to book your booster as soon as you\u2019re able to because we know without a shadow of a doubt that these vaccines work and boosters are the best way to prevent the worst,\u201d Premier Doug Ford said Wednesday. \u201cEveryone has a role to play in the next phase of our provincial COVID response. <strong>It\u2019s all hands on deck and it starts with booster shots<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Steady as she goes:<\/strong> <strong>Jason Kenney<\/strong> announced Wednesday that Alberta will allow more than two families to gather for Christmas and is no longer placing additional gathering restrictions on the un-vaxxed, the <em>Edmonton Journal<\/em> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/edmontonjournal.com\/news\/local-news\/december-15-2021-covid-19-latest-from-the-province-alberta-kenney-hinshaw-copping-omicron-trudeau\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Kenney said the limit of 10 adults per indoor gathering total will remain but there will no longer be limits on the number of households that can be included. He said the previous rules that prevented unvaccinated Albertans from gathering were leading to \u201cwidespread non-compliance\u201d so those are being eliminated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Spreading:<\/strong> <strong>Patrick Lagac\u00e9<\/strong>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lapresse.ca\/actualites\/chroniques\/2021-12-15\/vingt-convives-vraiment.php\">writing<\/a>\u00a0(<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www-lapresse-ca.translate.goog\/actualites\/chroniques\/2021-12-15\/vingt-convives-vraiment.php?_x_tr_sl=auto&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en-US\">translation<\/a>) in <em>La Presse, <\/em>which elsewhere featured <em>a\u00a0<\/em><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lapresse.ca\/actualites\/sante\/2021-12-15\/l-hopital-notre-dame-fait-face-a-une-eclosion-de-covid-19.php\">report<\/a>\u00a0Wednesday night of a hospital outbreak, is unimpressed by provincial guidelines allowing up to 20 people at holiday parties, and offers a personal plan to cut the omicron risk.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"paragraph textModule textModule--type-paragraph hasFeaturedAuthor\"><span class=\"\">Translation: At 10 days before Christmas, the situation being what it is, I personally don\u2019t need the state to tell me how many people I can or cannot host at home.\u00a0<\/span>The answer is simple: <strong>as few as possible.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Not zero.\u00a0But as few as possible<\/strong>.\u00a0We open the windows, we ventilate, we have two small\u00a0<em>parties<\/em>\u00a0rather than one medium-large;\u00a0three rather than two.\u00a0<span class=\"\">In short, you flatten the risk curve yourself, notwithstanding government directives.<\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Travel plans:<\/strong> CP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nationalpost.com\/pmn\/news-pmn\/canada-news-pmn\/conservative-mps-free-to-travel-international-liberal-ndp-mps-must-stay-home\">reports that<\/a> <strong>CPC\u00a0MPs will be free to travel internationally<\/strong> over the holidays while their Liberal and NDP counterparts must stay home, reminding us of last year\u2019s impolitic holiday jaunts. After the government issued a new advisory, Liberal and NDP party bosses have instructed their MPs to stay in Canada, while\u00a0<strong>Erin O\u2019Toole\u2019s<\/strong> office said the advisory offers advice, which means CPC MPs \u201ccan continue to travel internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Against Quebec bashing:<\/strong> Writing in the <em>Post<\/em>, <strong>Andr\u00e9 Pratte<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nationalpost.com\/opinion\/andre-pratte-english-canada-falls-head-first-into-the-separatists-bill-21-trap\">warns that<\/a> English Canadian objections to Bill 21 will strengthen the hand of Quebec separatists.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>All this noise now allows the distinct society\u2019s nationalists to claim that the province is again subject to \u201cQu\u00e9bec bashing.\u201d As always when under \u201cattack,\u201d <strong>Quebecers will rally behind their government<\/strong>. Bill 21 will become even more entrenched into Qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois identity. Attempting to amend it, following a Supreme Court decision for example, will be impossible for any future government of the province.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Lack of leadership:<\/strong> In the <em>Star<\/em>, <strong>Althia Raj<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/politics\/political-opinion\/2021\/12\/15\/why-does-it-take-a-gta-mayor-to-stick-up-for-minority-rights-in-quebec.html?source=newsletter\">checks in with<\/a> Brampton Mayor <strong>Patrick Brown<\/strong> and a number of other people who think federal politicians ought to be rushing to the ramparts to defend the Charter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pressure:<\/strong> CP <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/politics\/some-tory-liberal-mps-push-for-federal-intervention-in-quebec-s-secularism-law-1.5708445\">has a report<\/a> on MPs and senators from several parties who are pushing their parties to take a firmer stand.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ctx-article-root\"><!-- --><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
