Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Edit_the_Registry_Yourself\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"moka_anchor_edit_yourself\">Edit the Registry Yourself<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To get the full, legacy right-click context menu in Windows 11, you have two choices: You can edit the Windows Registry yourself or download our one-click hack in the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"#moka_anchor_method2\">section below<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"admonishment_warning\"><p><strong>Warning:<\/strong> The Registry Editor is a powerful tool. Misusing it can render your system unstable or even inoperable. Still, this is a simple hack, and if you follow the instructions completely, you shouldn\u2019t have any problems. If you haven\u2019t used the Registry Editor before, consider reading about how to use it before getting started. We also recommend backing up the Registry\u00a0(and your computer) before making any changes.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If that sounds like too much of a hassle, just skip to the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"#moka_anchor_method2\">\u201cOne-Click Registry Hack\u201d section<\/a> below. You can verify that it\u2019s not malicious by opening the file using Notepad (right-click, select \u201cShow More Options,\u201d then choose \u201cEdit\u201d) and looking at its contents. The \u201cwin11_classic_context_menu.reg\u201d file contains two keys that will be added to your registry when you open it.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019re ready, double-click the REG file, and you\u2019ll see a warning stating that adding information to the Registry could potentially damage your system. Click \u201cYes\u201d to continue.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-759506\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/yes_add_to_registry.jpg?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Click &quot;Yes.&quot;\" width=\"650\" height=\"241\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>After that, you\u2019ll see another pop-up notifying you that the information was added to the Registry. Click \u201cOK.\u201d Next, restart your PC to make the change take effect. Then restart your PC. When you log back in, the default context menu will be back.<\/p>\n<p>This registry hack was working as of Windows 11\u2019s initial release in October 2021. In the future, it\u2019s possible that Microsoft will disable this registry hack with an update. Since application developers <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windowsdeveloper\/2021\/07\/19\/extending-the-context-menu-and-share-dialog-in-windows-11\/\">can add options<\/a> to the new Windows 11 context menu, this hack may become less necessary over time as apps get updated to support Windows 11.
