The newest dating trend for singles<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Calling all singletons \u2014 \u201chardballing\u201d is the new dating trend you need to be aware of and it\u2019s pretty savage.<\/p>\n<p>Made popular by Generation Z, ie those aged 24 or younger, the term involves a lot of \u2013 potentially hurtful \u2013 truth telling and early dumpings.<\/p>\n<p>Hardballing is when a single person is very clear about their expectations from a relationship upfront.<\/p>\n<p>And, if your life plans don\u2019t match theirs, then it\u2019s an instant goodbye.<\/p>\n<p>It could be someone with a strict timescale for marriage and kids, or alternatively someone making it VERY clear it\u2019s just a casual fling.<\/p>\n<p>Sexpert Jana Hocking, who at 36 is learning about this belatedly like us, wrote about the trend\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/lifestyle\/relationships\/dating\/hardballing-is-the-new-dating-trend-that-both-scary-and-great\/news-story\/de63468a8165b58bb27fe406280c9791\">for news.com.au<\/a>, admitting it made her feel equal parts \u201cvery old\u201d and \u201cscared to give it a go\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do you hardball someone without scaring them off?\u201d she pondered, before deciding you should hit your date with the hard facts in your very first conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Jana adds: \u201cThey may tell you that they are just looking for something casual, or they may tell you they are actually looking for their special someone as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s straight to the point and will help avoid any tricky \u2018what are we\u2019 confusion later down the track.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd if a conversation like that does scare them off, well then clearly, they weren\u2019t for you anyway.
