There was previously a 1996 anime <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a>, a 1997 movie, and two other OVAs in 1999 and 2001 respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The anime originate from the manga by <strong>Nobuhiro Watsuki<\/strong>, who was fined 200,000 yen (~US$1,760) in 2018 for simple possession of child pornography. The <em>Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Hen<\/em> sequel manga, which began in 2017, was initially suspended by Shueisha, but the new series ultimately resumed publication and has six tankoubon volumes as of July 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The original manga began in 1994 and ran until 1999. Over a decade later, the <em>Rurouni Kenshin<\/em>:\u00a0<em>Restoration<\/em> manga, described by Amazon as a \u201ccondensed retelling\u2026 released in conjunction with a new live-action movie,\u201d began in 2012 and ended in 2013<b>. <\/b><strong>Watsuki<\/strong> later released\u00a0<em>Rurouni Kenshin Uramaku: Honoo wo Suberu<\/em> in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The series has over 73 million copies in circulation worldwide. Warner Bros. Pictures released a live action movie adaptation in 2012.
