Not only is Torossian\u2019s firm, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/5wpr.com\/\">5WPR<\/a>, the longtime US PR agency for international adult site Pornhub, which <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theweek.in\/news\/world\/2020\/06\/11\/over-a-million-people-demand-shutdown-of-pornhub-over-child-porn-exploitation-videos.html\">has been accused<\/a> of the sexploitation of children and posting rape videos, he also owns a PR site that he secretly uses to promote his business and take down his enemies, sources told The Post. <\/p>\n<p>In the past few months, Torossian has been helping plan events for Adams, including a victory party at exclusive members\u2019 club Zero Bond in Noho on Nov. 2. On Saturday, after a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/why-is-nyc-mayor-eric-adams-glued-to-toxic-pr-exec-ronn-torossian\">Daily Beast report<\/a> started asking questions about Torossian\u2019s \u201ctoxic\u201d persona, Adams <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/12\/11\/nyregion\/eric-adams-fund-raisers-canceled.html\">canceled\u00a010 fundraising\u00a0events<\/a>, including a second party at Zero Bond to be hosted by Torossian on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Some political operatives said Adams is trying\u00a0to distance himself from Torossian without calling him out directly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one cancels political fundraisers unless they have to,\u201d said Ken Frydman, who has been involved in political campaigns since the early \u201990s and now runs the Source Communications public relations firm. \u201cLooks like Eric Adams had to cancel 10 fundraisers because of Ronn Torossian.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A longtime Democratic consultant, who asked not to be named, said the\u00a0optics are terrible and Adams should \u201cmove away from Torossian as quickly as possible. A source in the Adams camp said the mayor-elect was not aware of Torossian\u2019s work with Pornhub and that Torossian is not involved in any policy decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Last October, 50 women reached a settlement in a suit claiming they were <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsandiego.com\/news\/local\/50-women-settle-lawsuit-with-pornhub-over-san-diego-based-girlsdoporn-content\/2746542\/\">duped into filming videos for GirlsDoPorn<\/a>, a site owned by Pornhub. At least six people were charged by US attorneys with sex trafficking connected to the now-defunct GirlsDoPorn and one was sentenced to 20 years in prison earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFew companies have done more to undermine the American family,\u201d Jon Schewppe, director of policy and government affairs at the American Principles Project, said of Pornhub in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theamericanconservative.com\/articles\/meet-the-flack-who-bridges-trumpworld-and-big-porn\/\">an interview with the American Conservative<\/a> in September 2020. He also blasted Torossian\u2019s involvement as the PR agent. \u201cAnyone on the right who cares \u2014 or even claims to care \u2014 about protecting the family should im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely sever all ties with this individual.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>in February, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) filed a class-action lawsuit representing two underage girls whose <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/endsexualexploitation.org\/articles\/statement-class-action-lawsuit-filed-against-pornhub-by-two-survivors-of-childhood-sex-trafficking\/\">videos were used by Pornhub\u2019s parent company, MindGeek<\/a>.\u00a0One victim said she was just 16 when she was allegedly drugged and raped while filmed by a man in Tuscaloosa, Ala.\u00a0The second victim claimed she was forced to participate \u201cin the creation of sexually explicit videos that included adults engaging in sex acts with her,\u201d according to a statement from NCOSE.<\/p>\n<p>NCOSE said that in neither case did MindGeek attempt to ascertain the identity or age of the alleged victims before loading the videos onto Pornhub and other platforms.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/pornhub.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Torossian's company 5WPR is the longtime US rep for PornHub, a site that has been accused of the sexploitation of children and posting rape videos.\" class=\"wp-image-20515193\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/pornhub.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/pornhub.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/pornhub.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Torossian\u2019s company 5WPR is the longtime US rep for Pornhub, a site that has been accused of the sexploitation of children and posting rape videos.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Ethan Miller\/Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Torossian told The Post 5WPR is still the rep for Pornhub but declined to comment on the suits.\u00a0Asked about his relationship with the mayor-elect, he said he \u201chas spoken to Adams since [the] Daily Beast\u201d piece came out, but would not elaborate further.<\/p>\n<p>One vehicle Torossian uses to burnish his image is <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/everything-pr.com\/\">Everything-PR.com<\/a>, a site that purports to be an independent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> site for the PR world, but which regularly bashes his competitors and praises his clients. It also plugs his own firm, whose logo is prominently displayed on an ad on the website\u2019s home page.<\/p>\n<p>Not long after he purchased the site, a story on the best PR crisis management firms <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared, praising his own firm and stating that \u201cthere\u2019s no more aggressive crisis PR in the US than 5WPR.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The victory party Torossian organized for Adams at Zero Bond also featured prominently the next day on Everything-PR.com, which gushed: \u201cAbout 125 business leaders, celebrities and supporters nibbled on sliders and sushi as they hailed Adams for his pro-business stance.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>A 2018 article about PR rival Howard Rubenstein, who died in 2020, called him a \u201clegend\u201d but said \u201cthere\u2019s no question that the Rubenstein family will take a fall as there\u2019s no heir apparent \u2014 and plenty of New York City PR firms wanting to take their clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Everything-PR.com was founded by Mihaela Lica Butler in 2009 and her husband, Phil Butler, served as its editor in chief until it was sold to Torossian in 2014, Phil Butler told The Post. Pace\u201d and all his wife\u2019s bylines were changed to \u201cArchie Obrien.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is zero social media footprint of anyone named Richard D. Pace, Archie Obrien, Jason Tannahill\u00a0or any of the others listed as the bylined \u201cwriters\u201d of the pieces now on the site.\u00a0Numerous emails I sent to Everything-PR requesting an interview with Pace over the course of two years have never been returned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChanging the names of the authors on thousands of stories, some of which were iconic at the time,\u201d Butler said, is \u201ca journalistic \u2018no-no.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked why he would remove and change legitimate bylines, Torossian told The Post: \u201cIt is incorrect to say Ronn Torossian owns Everything-PR.com.\u201d (Ownership of the site is listed with a Tempe, Ariz., registry firm called \u201cDOMAINS BY PROXY, LLC\u201d which masks ownership for corporations or individuals who do not want their identity disclosed.)<\/p>\n<p>One article supposedly written by \u201cArchie Obrien\u201d and originally published on October 27, 2013, is a glowing profile of Torossian, describing him as a \u201ccrisis PR legend\u201d and \u201ca New York PR super hero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no such person as Archie Obrien,\u201d Butler told me. \u201cI wrote this article. At 13, he joined Betar, a right-leaning Zionist student organization, and became the organization\u2019s national president during his college years.<\/p>\n<p>After graduation, he worked for two mid-size PR firms before striking out on his own with the launch of 5WPR in 2003. Among his early clients was the Likud party of Israel. In the US, his past client list\u00a0is a mishmash of media, political and entertainment figures, including the Eric Trump Foundation, rappers such as Sean \u201cP\u00a0Diddy\u201d Combs, the controversial Olivet University run by\u00a0fundamentalist Christian minister David Jang, and recently fired CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, whom Torossian briefly repped as a crisis manager. (Torossian said he has distanced himself from Olivet University recently. \u201cI haven\u2019t heard from Olivet in quite some time,\u201d he said.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Torossian\u2019s\u00a0rise was rapid but he had a pugnacious approach from the start. One former top executive who has left 5WPR said he was lured by a big salary, but almost immediately after joining, Torossian said he was going to have to cut his wage. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were frequently at odds and almost came to blows in a conference room shortly after joining,\u201d said the executive, who did not want to give his name because he said he feared retaliation.<\/p>\n<p>More than one clash with a top executive has landed in court.<\/p>\n<p id=\"m_-1937455241215807380m_104768520621908392m_6557504103723540453m_-4307582729913368352gmail-m_2964052254690058109gmail-block-3aedf7e6-5706-44f4-985e-f7f7531b40d4\">One infamous story, which first appeared in the gossip site Gawker and resurfaced in the Daily Beast article, involved a lawsuit Torossian filed against his former VP of HR, Melissa Weiss, who he claimed violated her contract. She claimed she was fired because she had accused 5WPR of illegal labor practices. According to the suit, Irons was still using her maiden name of Greenberg when she was hired before switching to her married name a few months later.<\/p>\n<p>But after Torossian found out Irons was not Jewish, he appeared \u201cshocked and disturbed,\u201d according to the suit, telling Irons: \u201cI saw the name on your paycheck was Irons, but I hired a Greenberg.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImmediately following her meeting with Torossian, her productive and cordial working relationship with him disintegrated into one that was hostile and demeaning,\u201d according to the lawsuit. \u201cIrons went from being a valued employee to one that Torossian could not stand to be around because she was not Jewish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Torossian denied in court filings that he made those remarks. The parties came to an out-of-court\u00a0settlement and the suit was withdrawn, court\u00a0records show. Torossian said due to the settlement, he is unable to comment on the matter.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\">\n<blockquote><p>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are an ex-cop, you should not be in a private club at night in a room with someone who represents a porn site. Even de Blasio never did that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><cite><br \/>\u2014 a longtime Democratic consultant, who asked not to be named<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Karen Hinton, a former press aide to Andrew Cuomo when he was at HUD and one of the first to come forward\u00a0with accusations of sexual harassment against the now-ex-governor, said Adams working with Torossian sends all the wrong signals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is important for a new mayor to surround himself with people who are well-liked, trustworthy and well-respected,\u201d Hinton said.
