Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roval before attacking the targets they find.<\/p>\n<p>But they could also be used as the ultimate \u201cfire and forget\u201d technology, loitering for hours or days ready to fire on targets chosen entirely by a computer.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unchecked_slaughter\"><\/span>Unchecked slaughter<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Experts say leading militaries are kidding themselves if they believe they can control the spread of these advanced new weapons.<\/p>\n<p>They say rogue states and terrorists will\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/news\/1361358\/terrorists-actively-seeking-to-build-deadly-army-of-intelligent-killer-robots-un-warns\/\">inevitably try to get hold of them<\/a>\u00a0to unleash massacres.<\/p>\n<p>And as\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/5603339\/tiny-flying-drones-called-slaughterbots-trained-to-kill-humans-could-be-the-future-of-warfare-and-terror-attacks\/\">compact killer robots<\/a>\u00a0become as cheap as Kalashnikovs, gangs such as Mexico\u2019s cartels could use them in\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tech\/17041187\/mexican-drug-cartels-slaughterbots\/\">a terrifying new wave of bloodshed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you can buy slaughterbots for the same price as an AK-47, that\u2019s much preferable for drug cartels, because you\u2019re not going to get caught when you kill someone,\u201d Prof Tegmark told The Sun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if a judge has lots of bodyguards, you can fly in through a bedroom window while they\u2019re sleeping and kill them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And governments will be more likely to go to war in future, experts say, as robot weapons mean fewer soldiers in the firing line.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/mules.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Boston Dynamics designed the LS3 &quot;robot mules&quot;
