After defeating Snoke and his Praetorian Guards with the help of Rey, Ben Solo challenges Rey to confront the truth about her parents. Rey admits that her parents are “nobody”, with Ben even commenting that they decided to sell her for drinking money. As Rey admits the truth herself, the answer to questions about Rey’s parents is pretty definitive. A mixed fan reaction to the reveal however, caused director J.J. Abrams and co-writer Chris Terrio to overwrite it in the next film.

Rey is in a position where she must decide who she is for herself. There is a rich contrast between Rey and Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, who is born into a well-known and powerful family. The idea that a hero can come from anywhere is inspiring, which is why Rey “Nobody” continues to resonate with so many Star Wars fans.

Related: Daisy Ridley Has No Plans to Return to Social Media

3 Lifting Rocks (The Last Jedi)

<picture>

</picture>
Disney, Lucasfilm

During The Last Jedi‘s final act, the Resistance fight a losing battle against the First Order on the salty mineral planet of Crait.
