\nDenise Richards<\/strong> knows she messed up by taking that maskless plane selfie!<\/p>\n

As we reported, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em> alum sparked outrage on social media<\/a> after sharing a selfie on Sunday without a mask that was captioned:<\/p>\n

\u201cOn a jet plane. Anyone that is upset I [am] not wearing a mask I\u2019m hiding under a hoody amd [sic] a huge winter coat. Please. Thicker than any mask!!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Naturally, the post drew the ire of the internet, with users going as far as to call the actress a \u201cf**kin\u2019 moron\u201d for seemingly exposing herself as an anti-masker.<\/p>\n

But now, it app<\/a>ears the star isn\u2019t anti-mask after all \u2014 and was maybe trying to make a joke that didn\u2019t land?? A source defended her to People<\/em>, assuring:<\/p>\n

\u201cDenise realized it wasn\u2019t the right thing to do to post the picture. In reality, she wore her mask the entire time except when she was taking sips of water. She believes in masks, and she really does follow the rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Another insider went on to say:<\/p>\n

\u201c[Denise is] not one of those people who is anti-masks. The way she handled it was strange, posting the photo. She\u2019s ready to admit she was an idiot to post the photo!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Well, that\u2019s certainly a start! Of course, she hasn\u2019t actually admitted that\u2026 and her IG is right at her fingertips\u2026<\/p>\n

As for what really happened during that flight, the insider explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was just flying home, sitting in her seat, and she put a coat over her head\u2026 you\u2019re allowed to take a sip of water and pull your mask down. So when she took her mask down, took it off for a second to relax and drink water, she posted this thing \u2018I hope nobody\u2019s upset\u2019 and she thought it was tongue-in-cheek. But people did not think it was funny.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Fans were so livid over her behavior, one user said the one-time Bond girl should be on \u201cthe no fly list.\u201d That\u2019s a bit much maybe, but also\u2026 you don\u2019t get to make jokes in an airport or on a plane. It\u2019s what you might call an\u00a0unsafe space<\/em>. And refusing to stay safe during a pandemic is serious business.<\/p>\n

But according to the source, Richards \u201cput the mask right back on\u201d after taking the controversial pic. They added:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was wearing it the whole time, except when she drank the bottle of water. She always follows the rules and wants people to be safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
