The production committee for the\u00a086 EIGHTY-SIX<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0TV anime announced<\/span><\/a> tonight that the final two episodes of the series<\/a>, episodes 22 and 23, will be delayed until March 2022<\/strong>. In a statement on the official website for the series, the production committee stated that they\u00a0“have decided to take some extra time to complete the episodes so that the viewers who have been looking forward to enjoying the climax of the second cour of this work can do so with the best quality we can produce.”<\/p>\n

The 21st episode of\u00a086 EIGHTY-SIX<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0is still set to air this Sunday in Japan, with the 22nd episode<\/strong> following on March 12<\/strong>, 2022, at 24:00 on Tokyo MX, and the 23rd episode<\/strong>, the final, scheduled for March 19<\/strong> at the same time as the previous episode. The statement noted that this timing can only be confirmed for the Tokyo MX broadcast, with other stations and streaming services to be confirmed at a later time.<\/p>\n

The staff apologized to fans for the delay and stated that “the entire staff will do their best to create a work that will meet the expectations of our fans.”<\/p>\n

The second part of\u00a086 EIGHTY-SIX<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>began on TOKYO MX in Japan on October 2 at 24:00 (effectively, 12:00 AM on October 3), with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it airs. Episodes 18, 19, and 20 were also delayed<\/span> in the Fall 2021 broadcast season, airing every two weeks instead of weekly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Called \u201cJuggernaut,\u201d these are the unmanned combat drones developed by the Republic of San Magnolia in answer to the attacks by the autonomous unmanned drones of the neighboring Empire of Giad, the \u201cLegion\u201d. But they\u2019re only unmanned in name. In reality, they are piloted by the Eighty-sixers\u2014those considered to be less than human and treated as mere tools. Determined to achieve his own mysterious ends, Shin, the captain of Spearhead Squadron, which is comprised of Eighty-sixers, continues to fight a hopeless war on a battlefield where only death awaits him.<\/em><\/p>\n
