To check, first try tapping the screen. If enabled, a feature called \u201cTap to Wake\u201d will turn on the screen.<\/p>\n<p>Also, try physically lifting the phone\u2014some have \u201cRaise to Wake\u201d turned on. If that doesn\u2019t work, press the Side or volume buttons on the edge of the device. If the screen turns on, the iPhone was just asleep. When it\u2019s ready to use, you\u2019ll see a greeting screen (if it\u2019s a new iPhone that hasn\u2019t been set up yet) or a lock screen, which is where you unlock your iPhone using a PIN, Face ID, or Touch ID.
