There is,\u200b I think, no question in the minds of people who are foreign policy experts that the year 2021 is not the year 2000\u200b,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we are embarking on a new era where the threats to our nation take many forms. Including the threat of autocracies taking over and having outsized influence around the world\u200b,\u201d Harris said.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the interview, she clarified her earlier comment, saying there is a need to \u201cfight for the integrity\u00a0of our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the wide-ranging interview, Harris also talked about the need for the Senate to pass voting rights legislation, but wouldn\u2019t say whether the filibuster should be bypassed, and criticism directed at her.\u00a0\u200b<\/p>\n<p>Harris also refused to take any responsibility for the debacle surrounding the US military pullout from Afghanistan in August, instead blaming the Trump administration for inking an agreement with the Taliban.<\/p>\n<p>She said she \u201cfully supported\u201d President Biden\u2019s decision to end the nation\u2019s 20-year war with Afghanistan\u00a0by removing US troops.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/ftn-kamala-harris-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Vice President Kamala Harris.\" class=\"wp-image-20619171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/ftn-kamala-harris-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/ftn-kamala-harris-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/12\/ftn-kamala-harris-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Vice President Kamala Harris said during the interview that autocracies pose a large threat<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">CBS <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a>\/FTN<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s really important to remember that the previous administration negotiated a deal with the Taliban, did not invite the Afghan government to be at the table, and negotiated a deal that required and and promised as part of an agreement that we would pull out by the end of May,\u201d Harris said on CBS.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo we were saddled with that responsibility based on an agreement between the United States and the Taliban,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>Harris claimed the Biden administration had to abide by the deal worked out by former President Donald Trump or risk a continuation of America\u2019s longest war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made the decision that if we were to break the agreement, it would have been a whole other situation right now,\u201d the vice president said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI strongly believe that had we broken that agreement, we would be talking about the war in Afghanistan and American troops in Afghanistan, and we\u2019re not talking about that. I have a job to do. And I\u2019m going to get that job done,\u201d she responded, noting that the criticism may be prompted by her raising issues about maternal health, postpartum care and Medicaid expansion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m vice president United States.
