The clip has since reached more than 1 billion views <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201980s rocker admitted he was annoyed at first by the trend, which has picked up steam in recent years. So I kept asking myself, \u2018What is he doing?\u2019 I remember I was on holiday [with my family] in Italy at the time. I was totally chilled out and I just kept saying to myself, \u2018I don\u2019t need this in my life right now,&#8217;\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[My friend] works in music as well. And he works with a lot of guys who are younger than him. So obviously, they\u2019re right on the tip of everything all the time,\u201d the British musician continued.<\/p>\n<p>He continued, \u201cI just thought it was really weird. You know, here\u2019s a friend of mine who lives on a different continent and is sending me a video that then clicks into my song. It was just really weird and it was something difficult for me to get my head around at first. Let\u2019s face it, that video is from a long time ago. I look like I\u2019m 11 years old and wearing my dad\u2019s overcoat. It gave me everything. I still <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> the world because of it. I\u2019m coming to America next year for gigs and stuff because of it. I can\u2019t complain,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He admitted that he quit singing for a while to have a \u201ctotally private life.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then I started [singing again] about 15 years ago. And people still love the song. The first time I ever sang that song was in Tokyo. People there still love it. It brings back wonderful memories,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank heavens for that song and what came after it because it was <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>-changing. It totally changed our lives.
