\n More than 100 members of Congress are sleeping in their taxpayer-funded Congressional offices and creating an unsafe environment to spread COVID-19, says California Rep. Jackie Speier.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shouldn\u2019t have members sleeping in their offices and there\u2019s over a hundred of them that sleep in their offices,\u201d she told TMZ. \u201cThere are some Democrats, mostly Republicans,\u201d added Speier, a Democrat.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can have a roommate, there\u2019s lot of things you can do. You can be in a boarding house like Abraham Lincoln,\u201d Speier said. \u201cYou know what the salary is when you run for the office. These offices are not meant to be sleeping quarters.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the more notable offenders in recent years was former Staten Island Congressman Dan Donovan, who cried poverty as his excuse when interviewed about it by The Post in 2018.<\/p>\n

Rep. Speier, speaking through a mask, said she was particularly incensed by her Texas colleague Rep. Louie Gohmert, who she said had deliberately put people at risk even after he knew he had tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s outrageous. It really is outrageous. Here you have a member not wearing a mask \u2026 [he] finds out he is COVID positive. He comes back. He goes to the men\u2019s gym after he knows he\u2019s positive and he is sleeping in his office. \u2026 where is he going to quarantine. He lives in his office?\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
