\n Ricky Gervais is back for his third and final season of After Life,<\/em> streaming on Netflix. The final season is set to debut on January 14th, 2022. However, before it debuts a final trailer just dropped to give us a little sneak peek into what is to come. Here is a look at the final season of After Life<\/em>.
\n<\/p>\n

For those of you that are not familiar with the show, here is a little quick rundown of what you have been missing. After Life<\/em> is set in the small fictitious town of Tambury. The show follows Tony, a writer for the local news<\/a>paper whose life is completely flipped upside down after his wife dies from cancer. While still struggling with grief, Tony starts to realize that making other people feel good is what can give him hope and a reason to live.

The Netflix original series<\/a> is by Derek Productions and the series is created, written, and directed by Gervais, who also serves with Duncan Hayes as executive producers. The cast includes Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey, Doctor Who<\/em>), <\/em> Ashley Jensen <\/em>(Extras<\/em>), <\/em>Tom Basden <\/em>(Plebs, David Brent: Life on the Road<\/em>), <\/em>Tony Way <\/em>(Edge of Tomorrow<\/em>), <\/em>David Earl (Cemetery Junction, Derek<\/em>), <\/em>Joe Wilkinson (Him and Her<\/em>), <\/em>Kerry Godliman <\/em>(Derek<\/em>), <\/em>Jo Hartley <\/em>(In My Skin<\/em>), <\/em>and Diane Morgan <\/em>(David Brent: Life on the Road<\/em>), <\/em>David Bradley <\/em>(The Harry Potter<\/em> series, Game<\/a> of Thrones<\/em>), <\/em>Peter Egan <\/em>(Downton Abbey<\/em>), <\/em>Ethan Lawrence <\/em>(Bad Education<\/em>), <\/em>Colin Hoult (Almost Never<\/em>) <\/em>and Michelle Greenidge <\/em>(It\u2019s a Sin<\/em>). <\/em>Kath Hughes <\/em>(The Join of Missing Out<\/em>), <\/em>joins as a new intern, Coleen.

\n If you are looking for the typical Ricky Gervais jokes and show, After Life<\/em> is very different. Although it has funny moments, the show is more of a drama than anything. It really explores what someone goes through when they lose somebody they love. The show has been praised by many and received the award for “Best Comedy” at the National Television Awards in 2021 where Gervais said, ” I only do this show for the money.” <\/p>\n

On May 6th, 2020, Netflix and Gervais reached a new multi-project deal which included the renewal of the series for a third and final season despite the positive feedback from fans and critics. In season 3 we will see that Tony is making progress and changing for the good as he begins to realize that being kind and caring is what makes life enjoyable. Still dealing from the loss of his wife and dealing with the more recent passing of his father, we see Tony with his German shepherd Brandy. He is looking for hope and a future and he is showing hints of moving forward. The show has had its share of tear-jerking moments since the start but the trailer shows promise of some more laugh out loud moments as we see if Tony can find the direction his life has been looking for.
