latest experiment \u2013 five times hotter than the real sun.<\/p>\n<p>Scientists hope the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-sun.com\/tech\/4330598\/china-fires-up-artificial-sun\/\">machine will help harness the power of nuclear fusion<\/a>, which would bring humanity one step closer to creating \u201cunlimited clean energy\u201d by mimicking reactions that naturally occur inside the sun.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers have been busy running tests at the\u00a0Experiential Advanced Superconducting Tokamak\u00a0(EAST), a nuclear fusion reactor facility, to make its auxiliary heating system more \u201chot\u201d and \u201cdurable\u201d, Xinhua <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> Agency reported.<\/p>\n<p>The facility is called an \u201cartificial sun\u201d because it mimics the nuclear fusion reaction that powers the real sun \u2013 which uses hydrogen and deuterium gases as fuel.<\/p>\n<p>Designed and developed by\u00a0the Chinese, the EAST has been used since 2006 by scientists from all around the world to conduct fusion-related experiments.<\/p>\n<p>But the project has just hit an important milestone.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers managed to run the \u201cartificial sun\u201d at 70 million degrees for as long as 1,056 seconds, or 17 minutes, 36 seconds,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=34784X1601670&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scmp.com%2Fnews%2Fchina%2Fscience%2Farticle%2F3161780%2Fchinas-artificial-sun-hits-new-high-clean-energy-boost&amp;sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.the-sun.com%2Ftech%2F4376795%2Fchina-artificial-sun-experiment-five-times-hotter-real-sun%2F\">South China Morning Post<\/a>\u00a0reports.<\/p>\n<p>The real sun hits temperatures of around 15 million degrees at its core.<\/p>\n<p>Gong Xianzu, a researcher at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science<\/a>s, told Xinhua: \u201cThe recent operation lays a solid scientific and experimental foundation towards the running of a fusion reactor.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large experiment at EAST, located at the Hefei Institute of Physical Science in the eastern province of Anhui.<\/p>\n<p>More than 10,000 Chinese and foreign scientific researchers have worked together to bring to life the \u201cartificial sun\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The EAST harnesses extremely high temperatures to boil hydrogen isotopes into a plasma, fusing them together and releasing energy.<\/p>\n<p>China experiment] once again challenged the world record.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have comprehensively validated the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a>, driving it a major step forward from basic research to engineering <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In May, EAST achieved another milestone, running at a plasma \u2013 or hot gas \u2013 temperature of 120 million degrees for 101 2040.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cFive years from now, we will start to build our\u00a0fusion reactor, which will need another 10 years of construction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter that is built we will construct the power generator and start generating power by around 2040.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two main challenges are keeping the temperature over 100 million degrees and operating at a stable level for
