While the feature still lacks the power of Automator or Apple<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Script<\/a>, it\u2019s still pretty useful.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some example workflows to get you started, all of which you can edit and duplicate to create your own.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Add_and_Trigger_Mac_Shortcuts\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_0\">How to Add and Trigger Mac Shortcuts<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The shortcuts below link directly to workflows that launch in the macOS Shortcuts app. You can then add them to your Mac with a single click. You can also trigger them directly from the Shortcuts app if you want, where you can edit existing shortcuts, add more from the Gallery, or delete workflows you no longer need.<\/p>\n<p>If you use iCloud Keychain for storing your passwords, you can use this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/e0e7fd0be0474934a9717a8942b22c31\">shortcut<\/a> from u\/Krokmou on r\/Shortcuts to quickly access your list of saved passwords from both iOS and macOS.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-773772\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/passwords.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Access iCloud Keychain via Shortcuts\" width=\"650\" height=\"318\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You can trigger the shortcut from your menu bar, or open it up in Shortcuts by double-clicking on it then click on \u201cShortcut Details\u201d in the right-hand pane and use the \u201cAdd Keyboard Shortcut\u201d button to assign a keyboard shortcut for even quicker access.<\/p>\n<p>Apple provides many\u00a0shortcuts like <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/e9c97888171a4b33bf6d6c45d6596b5b\">this one<\/a> in the Gallery, but this one\u2019s a bit more open-ended. It allows you to quickly split the screen between two apps, ideal for triggering \u201cwork mode\u201d when you\u2019re feeling distracted. You can also use the \u201cSplit Screen Between\u201d action to build your own Shortcuts that do the same thing (as per the screenshot above), just remember to pin it to the menu bar in the \u201cShortcut Details\u201d panel on the right-hand side.<\/p>\n<p>Trigger this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/1d66b3f1eb3d4a40ace28d8e2cbad522\">shortcut<\/a>\u00a0from your menu bar to quickly erase everything in your downloads folder. You can also edit the shortcut and enable \u201cDelete Immediately\u201d under the \u201cDelete [Contents of Folder]\u201d action to skip the Trash.<\/p>\n<p>Reddit user u\/MrVegetableMan created\u00a0shortcuts to toggle Low Power Mode <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/87865c17e8bd424c8de6053586346067\">on<\/a> and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/667d04bfa11a4a7f9e7d8184a7b0f88a\">off<\/a>\u00a0that works using a shell script. You\u2019ll need to enable \u201cAllow Running Scripts\u201d under Shortcuts &gt; Preferences &gt; Advanced and grant root access on the first run for this one to work. Once you\u2019re done you\u2019ll be able to trigger these shortcuts from the menu bar.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-773775\" data-pagespeed-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/low_power_mode.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Check for Low Power Mode in Menubar\" width=\"650\" height=\"334\" src=\"\/pagespeed_static\/1.JiBnMqyl6S.gif\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>You can check your current status by clicking on the battery charge indicator, which will notify you if Low Power Mode is enabled. You can enable Low Power Mode manually but it requires a fair few more clicks than using a simple menu bar shortcut. This simple <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.icloud.com\/shortcuts\/1dae57757bf44ac58453aaccec3dd797\">shortcut<\/a>\u00a0allows you to record multiple activities to a text note in Apple\u2019s Notes app. For best results, you\u2019ll need to edit the workflow by first adding it, then double-clicking on it to edit it.<\/p>\n<p>Under \u201cList\u201d you\u2019ll see items like \u201cOne\u201d and \u201cTwo\u201d which you can change to activities like \u201cResearch\u201d or \u201cReading\u201d to suit whatever you\u2019re tracking (add as many as you like). You can run the workflow from your menu bar shortcut, and it will ask you each time you do so what time you started, how long you spent on the task, and if there are any notes you want to record.
