href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/manufacturing\/m3\/index.html\" class=\"icon none\"> the Commerce Department said Thursday.<\/a> That\u2019s the 18th gain in the last 19 months.<\/p>\n<p> Economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal were expecting a 1.7% rise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The factory orders release gives more complete information than the advance durable goods report that was released on Dec. 23. <\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Durable-goods orders rose a revised 2.6% in November, up slightly from the initial estimate of a 2.5% gain.\u00a0Orders for nondurable goods were up 0.7% in the month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Orders for nondefense capital goods, excluding aircraft were flat in November. The initial estimate was a 0.1% decline. This category is a key measure of business spending.<\/p>\n<p>Shipments of factory goods rose 0.7% in November.
