How do you do this and do your job? How do you do this and feel like you are even remotely giving your kids what they need? How do you do it and feel like you are giving your job and your adult, outside-the-house self anything close to what it demands? How do you do this while hearing that nothing is more important than our kids, but knowing that at no point will a decision be made that upholds that bromide? <strong>How do you do it while countless medical officers of health\u00a0state plainly\u00a0that schools do not drive transmission and they are\u00a0essential?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Wynne speaks: Kathleen Wynne<\/strong> sat down with <strong>Paul Wells, <\/strong>of <em>Maclean\u2019s<\/em><strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0for a long, revealing interview,\u00a0discussing her struggles in politics. She is frank about what she sees as mistakes, and philosophical on the subject of her loss to <strong>Doug Ford<\/strong>, who she spoke up for after he encouraged people to enjoy their March break as the pandemic was gathering force. She observes that COVID has been good for Ford.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ford was \u2014 and I want you to take this in the right way \u2014 COVID has been very good for Premier Ford. Because <strong>before COVID, he really had no agenda<\/strong>. He didn\u2019t know what he was doing. That\u2019s my opinion, having watched him in the legislature and having watched his policy. He came in to tear down what we had put in place, and he did that for the first couple of years. And then before COVID hit, there were real conversations among those of us on the other side of the aisle: \u2018What are they going to do now? We don\u2019t know what they believe in. We don\u2019t know what they want to do.\u2019 So what COVID did was it focused him. You know, it gave him a reason to stand in front of the people of Ontario.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Angry at unvaxxed:<\/strong> Justin Trudeau said Wednesday Canadians are \u201cangry\u201d with the unvaccinated, CTV <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/politics\/canadians-are-angry-with-the-unvaccinated-trudeau-1.5728855\">reports<\/a>:\u00a0 \u201cPeople are seeing cancer treatments and elective surgeries put off because beds are filled with people who chose not to get vaccinated; they\u2019re frustrated. When people see that we\u2019re in lockdowns, or serious public health restrictions right now because [of] the\u00a0risk posed to all of us by unvaccinated people, people get angry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>A slap in the face<\/strong>: Trudeau took aim at the\u00a0Quebec reality TV stars and influencers who partied on a charter flight to Cancun, Global <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/8489995\/trudea-sunwing-slap-omicron-party-covid\/\">reports<\/a>: \u201cIt\u2019s a slap in the face to see people putting themselves, putting their fellow citizens, putting airline workers at risk by being completely irresponsible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The saga of the misbehaving influencers landed with force in Quebec, where the government has imposed a curfew and other restrictions that have the public in no mood for airborne shenanigans. <strong>Hugo Dumont<\/strong>, in <em>La Presse<\/em>, has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lapresse.ca\/arts\/chroniques\/2022-01-05\/air-cabochon-et-le-gossip-girl-quebecois.php\">a breezy column<\/a> on the sorry story (<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www-lapresse-ca.translate.goog\/arts\/chroniques\/2022-01-05\/air-cabochon-et-le-gossip-girl-quebecois.php?_x_tr_sl=auto&amp;_x_tr_tl=en&amp;_x_tr_hl=en-US\">translation<\/a>). <em>Le Journal de Montr\u00e9al<\/em> has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.journaldemontreal.com\/2022\/01\/05\/la-fumeuse-du-vol-festif-de-sunwing-est-une-future-pilote-davion\">the lowdown<\/a> about a would-be pilot captured on video vaping.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blameless PM:<\/strong> CTV\u2019s <strong>Don Martin<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/politics\/don-martin-trudeau-feels-our-pandemic-pain-and-deflects-the-blame-1.5729044\">writes that<\/a> in his presser Wednesday, Trudeau took pains to blame the premiers for Omicron woes, without acknowledging the funding gap that has the provinces struggling.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>That\u2019s why today\u2019s announcement of rapid tests by the millions <strong>shouldn\u2019t let the feds deflect all the blame<\/strong> in coping with COVID. They remain the shortchanging partner in funding a health care system with a comparatively low number of intensive care beds compared to other G7 countries.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In the <em>Globe<\/em>, <strong>Campbell Clark<\/strong> <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/politics\/article-justin-trudeaus-pandemic-pep-talks-are-wearing-a-little-thin-now\/\">writes that<\/a> the Prime Minister\u2019s pandemic pep talks are wearing thin.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>That warning has been heard so regularly in this pandemic that it will serve as a reminder that Canadian primary health systems, in jurisdictions from coast to coast, are stretched too thin. That\u2019s inevitably the case now, when the\u00a0Omicron variant\u00a0has spiked cases and kept infected hospital staff from working, but it\u2019s also clear <strong>the system was strained before the pandemic<\/strong> and didn\u2019t have excess capacity for critical care. Provincial premiers, who are responsible for health care, will find voters will expect them to do something about that for the future. And Mr. Trudeau, who just ran an election campaign full or proposals for health care services that aren\u2019t in his jurisdiction, can\u2019t expect to escape those pressures, either.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>American danger:<\/strong> In the <em>Globe<\/em>, <strong>Andrew Coyne<\/strong> makes a convincing argument that\u00a0American democracy is under serious threat from an unhinged GOP base, and warns that this will be an existential challenge for Canada.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If we can no longer count on sharing a border with a stable, democratic, and peaceful partner, then all of the other assumptions on which the Canadian nation-state is based are in doubt.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Failed escape attempt:<\/strong> <em>Vice<\/em> has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/5dgdyz\/kevin-j-johnston-escape-arrest-us-canada\">an in-depth report<\/a> on what <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ears to have been an incompetent border-crossing attempt by far-right hater\u00a0<strong>Kevin J.
