“#Who Should Be Truck 81’s Lieutenant \u2014 Kidd or Pelham? (POLL)<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Chicago Fire<\/em> Season 10 Episode 10 \u201cBack With a Bang.\u201d]<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAny other circumstance, this would be the greatest acquisition that 51 has had in a while,\u201d co-showrunner Derek Haas<\/a> said of Lieutenant Jason Pelham (Brett Dalton<\/a>) before the winter break. But the problem is that Chicago Fire<\/em>\u2018s Firehouse 51 already had someone for the empty spot on Truck 81 (following the exit of Jesse Spencer\u2019s<\/a> Captain Matt Casey): Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), who thought she\u2019d have to move houses after passing the lieutenant\u2019s exam last season.<\/p>\n

But, as she shared with her fianc\u00e9, Lieutenant Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), in the winter premiere upon returning from her \u201cGirls on Fire\u201d trip<\/a>, she held off on getting back to Deputy District Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) about claiming the position because she \u201cfroze.\u201d She wasn\u2019t saying no to getting her own command, just \u201cmaybe not right this second.\u201d She echoed that sentiment to Boden, explaining, \u201cI\u2019m still very excited to become a lieutenant. I just want to slow things down a bit and take advantage of everything I can do now, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Still, that doesn\u2019t mean she\u2019s immedia<\/a>tely welcoming of Pelham. And that comes as trouble\u2019s heading his way from an old foe: Chief Kilbourne, who warned Boden \u201cyou should have vetted him\u2026 don\u2019t be [comfortable with your decision]. You\u2019ll come to regret it soon enough.\u201d As you\u2019ll recall, Kilbourne was on scene when Pelham hit his former captain. What Pelham kept quiet from everyone was he did it because his captain stole jewelry, and as a result, he lost his command and floated for two years until Boden offered him that full-time spot. (\u201cThe man\u2019s life was in pieces,\u201d Pelham explained to Boden. \u201cI wasn\u2019t gonna send him to jail on top of that.\u201d)<\/p>\n

And in \u201cBack With a Bang,\u201d Kidd overheard Boden filling Pelham in on his encounter with Kilbourne. \u201cHe isn\u2019t happ<\/a>y I\u2019ve given you a home,\u201d the deputy district chief said, and both hoped it wouldn\u2019t become a problem for the firehouse.<\/p>\n

But is it, and is that the explanation for the events teased in the promo (below) for the next episode, \u201cFog of War.\u201d During a call with live wires, a firefighter is injured \u2014 and the blame seems to fall on Pelham. \u201cI never gave her that order,\u201d he insists. But can anyone back him up? Is Kidd right to wonder if Pelham\u2019s really in the clear?<\/p>\n
